CORE-BOX.
To all whom 'it may concern:
Be it known that I, Jol-IN KRAUs, a citizen of Austria-IrIungary, residing at Erie, in the county of Erie and State of Pennsylvania, have invented new and useful Iniprovements in Core-Boxes, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to core boxes and consists in certain improvements in the construction thereof as will be hereinafter fully described and pointed out in the claims.
More particularly, the invention relates to core boxes for forming cores for pipe fittings, and in its preferable forni relates to core boxes for forming cores for elbows.
The invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawings as follows:
Figure 1 shows a perspective view of one side of the core box for forming elbows. Fig. 2 a central section of the portion of the core box. Fig. 3 a perspective view of the opposite side of the core box. Fig. 4 an end view of the. assembled parts shown in Figs. 1, 2 and 3. Fig. 5 a side view of the core box for forming Ts. Fig. 6 a perspective view of the central portion of the core box. Fig. 7 the opposite side of the core box. Fig. S an end view of the assembled parts shown in Figs. 5, 6 and 7j In the preferable construction, 1 marks the central portion of the core box. This is provided with a dowel pin opening 2 into which extends the dowel pins E3 on the sides 4. The central portion has on both sides of it the elbow core cavities 5. Two print cavities 6 extend out of the top of the core box, and the print cavity 7 connects the cavities .f3-5 so that in the'iinished core there are provisions for two elbows which are joined together. The sides have the elbow cavities 8 8 corresponding with the cavities 5 5, and print extensions 9-9 corresponding with the print cavities G-6, and the cavities 10 corresponding with the cavities 7. In this preferable construction, there are two features of importance. One consists in the connecting of the two elbow cores. By this means, the print portion of the core may be very much reduced,that is, not only the part formed by the section 10 may be very much less than Where the cavities are separate, but also the section formed by Specification of Letters Patent.

In the alternative construction which is designed for forming Ts, the feature of the two sided central piece with the two side pieces is utilized. The central piece 'is marked 11. It has the T cavity 15 with the print extensions 1G and 17. It is provided with the openings 12 into which the pins 13 on the sides 14 extend. The sides have the core cavities 1S with the print extensions 19 and 2O corresponding with the core cavity 15, and the print extensions 1G and '1.7 correspond in the central part.
lV hat I claim as new is:
1. A core box for forming cores for pipe fitting elbows; said box being formed in parts, and having two elbow core cavities with a connecting print cavity.
2. A core box for forming cores for pipe fittings, said box being in three parts having a central portion having core cavities on both sides, and side portions having core cavities corresponding with the core cavities in the central portion, said cavities opening at one side of the box when the parts are together, and extending in a direction and in relation to each other to permit the condensing of the sand in the cavities by the saine rapping of the box.
3. A core box for forming cores for pipe Iitting elbows, said box being formed in three parts, and having two elbow cavities on each side of the central portion, and corresponding cavities on the side portion, said elbow cavities having connecting print cavities.
