Description

FFICE,
v ARTHUR OCTAVIUS WATKINS, OF LONDON, ENGLAND.
METHOD OF PRINTING.
No Drawing.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Apr. 5, 1910.
Application filed August 7, 1908. Serial No. 447,459.
To all whom 'it may concern:
Be it known that I, ARTHUR Oo'rAvIUs WATKINS, a subject of the King of Great Britain, residing at 115 Denmark Hill, London, England, have invented new and useful Improvements in Methods of Printing, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to improvements in the methods of printing and has for its object to facilitate reading by rendering it papers, books, music, and legal documents.
I produce by pressure of uninked type indentations in the paper and then color the background with ink of a dark color by means of an inking roller.
It will be understood that the word type is to convey the meaning not only of the actual type but also of any mold made therefrom in any suitable or well known manner. The surface when printed and dry may be rolled in order to present an even, not indented surface.
I claim:
1. The method of printing on paper, which consists in indenting a light colored surface with uninked type, then passing an inking roller inked with a darker color than said surface over the unindented portion of the surface, and finally removing the indentations from said surface.
2. The method of printing on paper which consists in indenting a light colored surface with uninked type, passing an inking roller inked with a darker color than said surface onto the unindented portion of the surface, and subjectin the paper to pressure to form an even unind ented surface,
In testimony whereof I afiix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
ARTHUR OCTAVIUS WATKINS.
Witnesses:
W. MORBEY, H. D. JAMESON.
