NEW YORK, N. y.
.PHLLEY-DRESSING.
No Drawing.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, HENRY LEIX, a citizen of Germany, Kingdom of Bavaria, residing at 315 Jay street, Brooklyn, in the county of Kings and State of New York, and EMIL M. LOWY, a citizen of Kingdom of Hungary, residing at 184 East Seventyfifth street, New York city, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented a certain new and useful Process in a Chemical Compound; and we do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
Our invention relates to compounds and more particularly to a compound formed by certain ingredients or elements incorporated tofigether for the production of a reliable and e cient pulley dressing to prevent the slipping and sliding of transmission belts.
The belt-dressings in use at the present time contain gum and resin and must be applied to the belt at short intervals which means that. the dressing must be renewed after a few days or weeks of using. Furthermore the present belt dressings in use lump up and make a black crust on the belt and on the ulley so that the belt does not rest on the ull surface of the pulley causing the belt to slip and slide to a greater degree than-before its use.
The main objects of our invention are as follows:
1. The dressing must be applied on the pulley and not on the belt and is usable for every transmission wheel, if of iron, steel, wood or paper. 7
2. When pulleys are dressed with our compound the machinery belts are absolutely prevented from slipping and sliding off the wheels by theadhesion of our compound which is three times as great as the adhesion ofdron or steel and twice as much as wood or aper, thereby a greater working be obtained and much energy will be ved under ordinary circumstances where elts are used. There is a great loss of on be prevented by the use of our invention, for [by preventing sliding and slipping the Specification of Letters Patent.

3. Our compound dries u after applying and gets hard like stone a ter a few hours and need only be renewed after two or three years. The adhesive properties of our compound remaln a ways the same until the compound itself is worn off.
4. Our compound preserves the belt per-- feet-1y because it hardens thoroughly and does not close the pores of the belt. compound is fire and water proof and can be Worked in any temperature or in places which are moisture laden.
The following is the method of producing and applying our improved compound. The
formula herewith presented is for making e-powder, 3 yolumes finest uartz-sand, 1
