BILLIARD-CUE TIP.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ALFRED L. BUCKLAND, a citizen of the United States, residing at Marietta, in the county of Lac qui Parle and State of Minnesota, have invented a new and useful BilliardCue Tip, of which the following is a specification.
This invention has relation to one tips, and it consists in the novel construction and arrangement of its parts, as hereinafter shown and described.
The object of the invention is to provide an effective means for securing a tip in place upon a cue by a drawing action of the parts, and means whereby the tip may be readily removed and replaced when worn or damaged.
In the accompanying drawings:I igure 1 is a longitudinal section of a cue end and the tip applied thereto. Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the parts of the tip disconnected. Fig. 3 is a sectional view, showing a modified form of the tip.
In the construction of the device as illustrated in Figs. 1 and 2 an outer sleeve 1 is provided at one end with spurs 2, arranged diametrically opposite each other and adapted to enter the base of a central socket formed in one end of the one 3 and of a diameter sufficient to accommodate the sleeve 1. Thus, when the sleeve is inserted in the socket, turning is prevented by the spurs 2, which may be embedded in the cue 1. An inner sleeve 4: of an exterior diameter less than the interior diameter of the outer sleeve is exteriorly provided with a screw-thread adapted to engage a similar thread formed on the interior of the outer sleeve 1. A collar 5 formed on one end of the sleeve 4 is provided on its edge with a plurality of equally spaced tangs 5 which are adapted to enter the face of a tip base 6. The latter is preferably formed of an angular piece of leather or other suitable material of an ex- Specification of Letters Patent.

In this position the parts are secured by a pin 10, passed through the inner sleeve and shank 9 of the tip. In the construction illustrated in Fig. '3, the pin 10 is eliminated and-the inner face of the tip is secured to the base (5 by glue or cement.
Having described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure, by Letters Patent, is 1- 1. The combination of a one provided at its end with a socket, a sleeve provided with spurs adapted to be embedded in said socket, a tip, and means for fastening said tip to said sleeve.
2. The combination of a one provided with a socket, a sleeve adapted to be secured therein, a tip base, a second sleeve fitting in the first named sleeve, and provided at one end with depending tangs to be embedded in one face of said tip base, a tip having a shank portion fitting in the second named sleeve, and a member passing through the latter and said shank, having its terminals bearing on the opposite face of said tip base.
