residing at Portland, in the county of Multnoinah and State of Oregon, have invented a new and Improved Sanitar f Base for Partitions, &c., of which the fo lowing-is a Specification. l

My invention, which relates generally to` improvements in building construction, more especially has for its pur ose to provide an improved construction 0 base for forming the facings of the lower part of a partition 'or outside wall and which is particularly designed to provide a sanitary base member, that prevents Vwater or other fluids, vermin or dirt from getting into the partition and whereby to prevent the deca of the parti` tions, especially at the base t ieroof, and the generation of germs within the partition.

With the above and other objects in view that will be hereinafter explained, my inlvolition eoinprehends a base member formed of concrete or other impervious material, whose lower opposite edges are shaped-to forni abutine its for the ooring and to procomprises a hollow hase block or` menilien of roncroto or analogous material whose lower face is'formedto interlock with the binder used for the floor on which the block issupported, which has` roores in 'its top, or in the top and one o its sides, for the recept ion of wooden nailing strips.

In its still more subordinate features, my invention consists in a sanitary partition hase embodyinv the peculiar construction hereinafter fiizlly described, specifically pointed out in the appended claims and illustrated in the accompanying drawings in which:

WVhile the main object in making'the base hollow is to reduce its Weight and cost, ,it is obvious the hollow space might be utilized for various purposes.

From the foregoing, taken in connection with the drawings1 the advantages of my invention will be apparent. It is manifest l that in using my invention a perfect sanilary base for partitions is provided and furent, is:-

1. In a building construction the combination with the floor having a surface 'cow ering and the wall, of a. hollow partition base composed of impervious material having a longitudinally extended groove on its under side to re'ceive :1 projecting part of the loo'r,` said partition base having a laterally extended portion at one side forming u floor surface abutment, of a thickness equal to that of the floor surface covering, the upper face of said abutment merging `with the side vfece of the base and curved-ut the juncture of the 'two faees,'the juncture be tween the top of suid base und the side thereof being curved= Said buse having e dovet'ailed channel and a nailing strip held in said dove-tailed channel, substantially :is shown and described.
