A further object of the invention is to provide a signal or alarm including a standard having spaced contacts slidably mounted thereon and co-acting with a. contact member carried by the' damper actuating bar, said movable contacts being adjustable vertically of the standard and adapted to close the circuit through the signal bell and sound the alarm.
j A still further object of this invention is generally to improve this class ot'devices so as to increase their utility, durability and eticiency, as well as to reduce the cost of manufacture.
Further objects and advantages will appear in the following description, it being understood that various changes in form, proportions, and minor details of construction may be resorted to within the scope of the appended claims.
A For a full understanding of the invention and the merits thereof and also to acquire a knowledge of the details of construction and the means for effecting the result, reference is to be had to the following description and accompanying drawings, in which:

Should the temperature of the incubator rise above normal the circuit will be closed through the upper t, contact member 17, battery 21 and bar 7 device extremely sensitive in operation.l
While the-signal or alarm is shown in connection with an' incubator, it will of course be understood that it may be used with equally good results wherever a device of this character is ,desired `for sounding .an alarm upon the rise or tall of the temperature.
Having thus described the invention, what is claimed as new is: s

The combination with a movable darnper actuating bar, of a standard having spaced guide iia-nges connected at their upper ends by a transverse strip constituting a stop, a block slidably mounted between said flanges, and provided with laterally extending arms, a relatively stationary contact carried by one of the arms, a screw threaded in the other arm4 and constituting a movable contact, a lock nut engaging thethreads of the screwfor locking the movable contact 1n adjusted position, and a contact carried by and disposed at substantially right angles to the damper actuating bar and adapted to engage the contacts on the movable block for closing the circuit, thereby to sound an alarm.
2. The combination with a movable damper actuating bar, of a standard having guide flanges spaced apart at their lower ends and connected at their upper ends by a transverse strip to form a stop, a block slidably mounted between said ianges and provided with integral laterally extending arms, l
uamoua a relatively stationary contact' secured to one i of the arms, a screw threadedvin the other arm a'nd constituting a movable contact, a clamping nut engaging the threads of the screw for locking the movable contact in adj usted position, means for locking both arms in diii'erent positions of adjustment with relation to the height of the standard, and a flat strip of metal detachably secured to and a5 disposed at right angles to the damper actuating bar and ladapted to engage the contacts on the block for closing the circuit thereby to sound the alarm.

The combination with an incubator, of a damper actuating bar, a standard havin ,a base secured to the incubator and provi ed with a binding screw, spaced contacts adjustable on the standard, an electricalfcircuit having one terminal thereof secured to the binding screw ofthe standard and its `op posite end connected with the actuatin bar, said electrical circuit including a signa and switch, a contact member detachably secured to the actuating bar and provided with a head operating between and adapted toengage the contacts on the standard for closing the circuit and a clip pivotally mounted on one end of the contact member and having a socket formed therein for the reception of the damper actuating bar.
4. The combination with an incubator, including a damper actuating bar, of a standard secured to the incubator and provided with spaced vertically adjustable contacts, an electrical circuit connected with the standard and actuating bar respectively and including a signal, a contact member comprising a flat strip of metal detachably secured to and disposed at a right angle to the actuating bar and provided with an enlarged head adapted to engage the contacts on the standard for closing the circuit, a clip pivotally mounted on one end of the fiat strip of metal. and having its intermediate portion provided with a socket for the reception of the damper actuating bar, and a fastening device extending through the flat 'metal strip and the adjacent end of the clip actuating bar.
