Be it known that 1 ROBERT Soorten, ofp-Troy, in the county of Rensselaer, and State ot'New York,y

have invented certain new and useful Improvements' in WaterReservoir (looking-Stoves; and l do hereby declare that the following is a full and exact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and letters of reference Vmarked thereon, making apart of this specification, in which- Figure I `is a perspective view of the rear end of the stove;

My said invention consists in the peculiar construction and arrangement of the rising or ascending rear `iue of a three-lined cooking-stove, in combination with vthe water-reservoir ther'eowhereby the following distinguishing features appear, to wit. The upper part or halilof the ascendingtine isv recessed` in the water-reservoir, `and is gradually contracted in area `flue thereof in two parts-theflower part expanded7 A and the upper part contracted, which flue is arranged in the rear of and yso as to overlap the descending or diving-fines of the stove, in manner substantially as hereinafter fully shown and described.

Theobject of my invention is to cause the heat of combustion to concentrate and reverberate in the rearend rising-tine of thestove, so as to 'thereby heat the -yvater-reservoir more eti'ectually, and also to equalize and betterfl'naiutain a good baking-heat at the rear end` of the oven. V

`The lower part or plate F of the ascending or risingue is made iu a separate piece, consisting of a back and end sides, and in au expanded or. tiaring shape, from its bottom to its top part, substantially as shown in iig. 3 of the drawings; and its end edges, where adjoining the back plate of the stove, are so made as to catch or Hook on to the flanges b and b aforesaid, and be held in its proper place, as shown in figs. 4 and 6 of the drawings.

The water-reservoir or tank D D has made in its front side, adjoining the rear-end plate A of the stove, a recessed` fine, E, which at the bottom part of the reservoir is nearly the whole width thereof; thence it isgradually contracted in size upto its top, so as to come under the pipe-opening or collar of the stove, substantially as shown. At the bottom edge of this re' cessed liiue is a hook or lug, d and it is also provided with a top or cover-plate, J and at the top part of said tlue therein, there is made a fiange, f.

'lhe aforesaid improved parts are attached or mounted to thestove 'substantially as follows: The plateF is hooked by its end edges to the flanges band b', its bottom edge rest-ing on the central ilue O; lthe waterreservoir is then placed thereon, with its hook or lug,

The stove-topv plate 'L, which has its underside about the exit-pipe openingV made to tit snugly over the 4flange f of the reservoir, is then placed thereover and secured, which thus holds the*water-reservoir D and plate F securely in their proper positions,` as shown in the annexedI drawings. When they direct-draught damper a is closed, the hot gases of combustionjthen pass down the divingilues H and H', under the oven, into the central flue (l, thence into the expanded and contracted rising tlue F E, wherein the` heated gases are retarded in their passage, and spread over or partially reverberated in said iiue, about as shown by the'ariows in fig. 46, thus maintaining abetter baking-heat in the rear y ent, is-

6. The combination, with each other, of the water reservoir D, its recessed contracted rising flue-part E, the expanded rising Hue-part F, the diving-fines H and H', and the damper a, all constructed and relatively arranged, substantially as and for the purpose described.
