citizen of-the United" fb'tate's; residing at l ergus Falls, in-fthe-couiity' of Ottertail, State of Minnesotayhave invented certain new and useful Improvements in Vegetable- Slicers; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make'and use the same.

The invention relates to a vegetable slicer and more particularly to the class of ma chines for cutting into slices vegetables, such as potatoes and apples.

The primary object of the invention is the provision of a machine of thiseharacter in which a vegetable tote/sliced is supported within a receiver directly above a plurality of cutter blades so as to be subsequently sliced thereby, and a reciprocating plunger adapted to act upon the vegetable to enable the slicing thereof. by the cutter blades.

Another object of the invention is the provision of a vegetable slicer of this character in which are mounted a plurality of yieldable supporting fingers for holding avege table centrally above a plurality of cutter knives fixedly held within a receiver, and which supporting lingers are readily and easily detached so that in event of the breaking of any one of the same it can be replaced by a new one, and manually operable means for actin upon a vegetable support.- ed by the yielda 1e fingers to effect the slicing thereof by the cutting blades within the receiver.

In the drawings the numeral 10 designates a bench or table having at opposite ends the. usual supporting legs 11 and containing in its top a suitable opening in'which is fitted the mouth portion of a. cylindrical receiver 12, which latter has formed at its mouth portion bear'ingears 13, the same secured to the table by fasteners 14:, so as to mount the receiver at its mouth portion flush with the upper surface of the table or bench top.

Mounted -1n the lower end of the receiver 12, are cutting blades 15, the same crossmg each other at their central points and are formed with V-shapd upper cutting edges 16, extending throughout the length thereof. Secured within the receiver are inwardly converging leaf springs 17, the lower ends of which are detachably mounted by bolt fasteners 18, to the receiver. Secured to the upper ends of the spring 17 are supporting spring fingers 19 the upper ends of which extend above the mouth portion of the receiver and are formed with outwardly and downwardly curved extremities 20, while the opposite lower ends converge inwardly toward each other and are formed with central bifurcations 21 to form forked ext re1nities straddling the cutter blades. 15, and are guided thereby while supporting a vegetable in the rccehrcr and in this manner the said supporting lingers are prevented from displacement out of normal a-lining relation to each other.

Secured to the tabletop and rising vertically therefrom is a guide bracket or stand ard 22,.having slidably connected thereto a reciprocating carrier the same being in the form of an arm 23. secured at. one terminal to a slide plate 24, the opposite ends of which are formed with clamping cars 25, emhrzu:- ing the standard 22, to slidably connect the carrier thereto. Fixed to the arm 23 .at its other terminal and depending therefrom is a plunger head or block 26, provided with crossed slots 27, adapted to allow the. cutter blades 16. to enter so that the plunger can descend far enough relative to thelsaid blades to press a. potatoor'other vegetnlfie. down to be cut. mto pieces and the pieces pushed between the cutters.

What is claimed is:-
