To all ilk/rom it may concern:

Be it. known that I, ISAAC M. IEASE.l a citizen of the United States, and resident of Cincinnati, Hamilton county, State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Iniprovenients in '.l`russ-Pads; and I do declare the following to be a clear, full, and exact description of the invention, attention being called to the accompanying drawing, with the reference characters marked thereon, which forms also a part of this specitication.

This invention relates io improvements in truss-pads and has for its object. to provide an inexpensive but substantial exterior finish for the pads which leaves also their ouiside perfectly smooth to prevent irritation of the surfaces upon which it is worn.

In the following speciti ation and particularly pointed ont in the claim at the end thereof will be found a full description of iny invention, together with its parts and manner of manufacture, which latter is also illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which Figure 1, shows in perspective view a truss of custoniary type.A Fig. 2, shows at enlarged scale the pad 0f this truss as it appears in -li`ig. 1, parts being brohen away. Dig. 3, is a. section of this pad taken on line 3 3 of Fig. 2.

'llie edges of the front-covering and of thc back are secured to each other, usually by stitches applied at the edge of the pad.

'lli'ese stitches have a.tendency to draw the front-cover into wrinkles, which causes the i i i l l l i l l l I i l bearing surface of the pad to become rough and uneven, thereby rendering its use objectionable and troublesome to the wearer. I obviate this by applying the coverini for the pad as follows: Upon the back of pad B' proper. which is made in any suitable inannei and out of any suitable material, I lace a lining E, of coarse, strong fabric ant cut to proper shape and size. Over the frontpart of the pad I stretch the front cover C which is usually of leather and draw the edges of the saine snugly around toward che back and so that they overlap the edges of the lining, as best shown at c. Next I permanently secure the edges of the front-cover to the lining by a row-of stitches c, the con` ucction being made on the liaclt of the pad and inside al the edge of the saine. Lining fl. edges c ol the front-cover overlapping it and the stitches whereby bolli are connected, are now covered by the bach l), inadcof thin, pliable leather and secured by gluing it over these paris by any suitable adhesive substance. l'laving described my invention` I claim as new:

ln the manufacture of truss-pails. a lining of fabric placed on the bach ol' the pad proper, a front-covering )laced over the front of the same and i rawn smoothly around and over the edge thereof to an extent siillicient to canse its edge to overlap the edge of the lining mentioned, thc supcrposed edges being permanently connected by being sewed together thereat, in a manner that the resulting seam is located exclusively on the each of the pad, and a back-covering of y' leather glued in place so as to-'cover the lining, the overlapping edges of the front-cover and the stitches whereby both are connected.
