DOUGH ROLLING DEVICE.
APPLIGATION FILED MAY 2s, 1909 Patented Dee. 14, 1909.

BOUGE-ROLLING- DEVICE.
Speccaton of Letters Patent.
Patented Dec. 14, 1909.
Application filed May 28, 1909. Serial No. 498,879.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, DANIEL KRAPF, a subject of the Emperor of Germany, and JOHN F. SAoHs, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at Millvale, in the county of Allegheny and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Dough-Rolling Devices, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawing.
This invention relates to a dough rolling machine, and the objects of the invention are, first, to provide a machine by which dough can be quickly flattened or rolled to any desired thickness; second, to provide a simple and inexpensive machine easily operated and adjusted to flatten a batch of dough; and third, to provide a machine that can be folded to occupy a comparatively small space when not in use.
The above objects are attained by a machine that will be presently described in dctail and claimed, reference being had to the drawing wherein there is illustrated a pre* ferred embodiment of the invention, but it to be understood that the details of construction can be varied or changed without departing from the spirit or scope of the invention.
In the drawings, Figure 1 is a side elevation of the machine partly broken away and partly in section, Fig. 2 is a longitudinal sectional view of the same, Fig. 3 is an end view of the machine partly broken away and partly in section, and Fig. 4 is an elevation of the machine folded or collapsed, and partly broken away and partly in section.
In the drawings, the reference numeral 1 denotes a housing having the confronting sides thereof provided with vertical guide grooves 2, for the arms of an inverted U-shape yoke 3, said yoke being adjusted in said grooves by a vertical screw 4L which is connected at its lower end to the top of the yoke 5 and threaded in the top of the housing 1.
5 designates a flattening roll journaled in the lower ends of the vertical arms of the yoke 3.
The housing 1 is suitably secured to a table 6 or a similar support and adapted to slide upon the table 6 beneath the flattening roll 5 is a board or platform 7 which is supported upon a series of rollers or wheels 10 carried by the axles 9 journaled in the lower ends of brackets S which are secured to and depend from the lower face of the board or platform 7 and depending from the side edges of the latter are longitudinally extending racks 11 adapted to mesh with pinions 12 mounted upon the ends of a roller 13 having spindles 141 revolubly mounted in the housing 1. One of the spindles is extended and provided with a rectangular portion 15 for a detachable crank 1G by which the roller 13 is revolved to shift the board or platform 7 back and forth in the housing' 1 beneath the roller 5.
Since it is desirable to lubricate the racks 11 and the pinions 12, the end edges of the board or platform 7 are provided with plates 17, extending downwardly a sufficientdistance to prevent a lubricant from working its way upon the board or platform 7 and ruining the board for the purposes for which it isl intended.
It is apparent that when the crank 16 is turned first in one direction and then in another that the board or plat-form 7 with a batch of dough thereon will be reciprocated upon the table 6 and the dough flattened as well as reduced to a thickness corresponding to the distance between the top of the board 7 and the periphery of the fiattening roll 5. The board or platform 7 corresponds to a truck, and by moving the same whereby one end is in proximity to the roller 13, the housing 1 can be lowered to a horizontal position, as shown in Fig. 4, whereby the housing and truck will occupy a comparatively small space when in use.
Having now described our invention, what we claim as new, is
A dough rolling machine comprising a housing provided with vertical grooves, an inverted U-shape yoke having the arms therein positioned in said grooves, a roller a lubricant arresting means carried at each Journaled 1n the lower ends of said arms, a end of the platform.
reciprocatory platform extending through In testimony whereof we aflix our signatle housing, rollers flor supporting the tures in the presence of two witnesses.
5 p atform, racks carriec by 'the platform, T 1
rotatable means'engaging with said racks for reciprocating the platform, an adjusting l screw threaded in the housing and connected lVitnesses: to the yoke for adjusting the latter and A. J. TRIGG,
10 maintaining it in its adjusted position, and K. H. BUTLER.
