To all euhom it may concern:
Be it lrnown that 1, Hammer L. HOHL- mm), a citizen of the United States, and a resident of the city of Philadelphia, State of clear; and complete disclosure, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification.
The main objects of this invention are to provide a suspension couch of simple and attractive design, which may .be constructed cheaply, and which will be;,strong, durable and comfortable in use; to provide a couch which maybe conveniently taken apart, reassembled and adjusted; and to provide other improvements, all of which will appear in the following specification.

Referring to the drawings, the couch comprises a substantially rectangular main.-
frame consisting of side bars 1 and end bars 2; across and over which is stretched a cover 3 of canvas or other suitable material, the edges of which are brought downwardly around the outside edges of the frame, and folded inwardly upon the under side thereof. The edges of the cover 3 are provided with pockets 1 within which are loosely placed rods 5 and eyelets 6 are provided passing through the two sides of the pockets and adjacent the inside of the rods. Lacings 7 which extend across and upon the under side of the frame, through the eyelets of the cover between'the' opposite edges of the cover. stretch the same tightly. upon the frame.
A woven wire spring 8 is stretched across the frame beneath and adjacent the cover 3. The end edges of this woven spring are secured betweenthe folds of metal binders 9 by means of rivets 10 extending through the sides of the'binders and the binders are fastened into recesses provided therefor in the u inner edges of the end bars by nails 11 or other suitable means.
The side edges and central part of the woven spring are stiffened by a pluralityof longitudinal spiral wires 12,. and the side edges are further stiffened by means of longitudinal straight metal wires or rods 13 which run through the spiral wires 12. The ends of the rods 13 are bent to form hooks 14.. which engage in eyes in the inner ends of fiat bars 15 and the outer ends of the bars are secured between the folds of the metal binders 9. The rods 13 are also supported in screw eyes 16 fastened into the inner edges of the side bars of the frame. The ends of the wires of the spring 8 are coiled around transverse rods 17 which are held in binders 9 by nails 11.
For suspending the couch, a cloth 18 is provided at each end thereof, the end edges ofwhich are preferably folded and stitched to form transverse pockets 19 and 20, through which extend spreaders 21 and 22 respectively. The inner end of the cloths 18 are secured upon the under side and ad j acent the ends respectively of the frame by means of cleats 23 which pass through the cloths 18 as at 24 and around the outside of the inner portions of the cloth forming the pockets 19, and the cleats are fastened to the end bars of the frame by meansof screws 25 or other devices. By this arrangement, the cleats 23. and spreaders 21 serve the double function of holding both the cover 3 and the cloths 18 in position upon the frame.
The outer ends of the cloths 18 are provided with apertures 26 upon the inner sides of the spreaders 22, through which are passed clue cords 27 the outer ends of which are secured to a ring 28, whereby the couch is suspended. Instead of apertures in the cloths 18 adjacent the ends of the spreaders 22, I preferably use clips 29, having integral therewith prongs 30 passing through the cloths 18 and the spreaders 22 and rivetedin place to hold the edges of the cloths in position. These clips are curved to fit around the cloths on the spreaders, andare provided with eyes 31 which serve to hold the inner ends of the outer clue cord in position. The edges of the couch may be finished with a valance 32 which is preferably stitched or otherwise fastened to the cover Although I have shown only one form in which this invention may be constructed, yet it is obvious that many changes might be made in the construction herein illustrated,

A suspension couch comprising a substantially rectangular frame, a cover extending over the upper side of said frame and around the outside edges thereof, lacing upon the other side of said frame to hold said cover in position, a spreader upon the under side of said frame and outside of said cover, means to secure said spreader to said frame, and means carried by said spreader for supporting the couch.
4. A suspension couch comprisinga frame, a cover extending across the upper side of said frame and around one ed e of and extending inwardly upon the under side therei of, a spreader upon the under side ofsaid frame and outside of said cover, a cleat passing through said cover and around said spreader securing said s reader to said frame, and means carried y said spreader to support said couch. A suspension couch comprisingaframe, a cover across the upper side of said frame, and around the under edge thereof, a spreader'sec'ured to the under side of said frame and outside of said cover, a cloth carried by said spreader for suspending said couch, said cloth having a spreader upon the outer end thereof, and clue cords connected to said last mentioned spreader.

a cloth for suspending said frame, having a pocket in one edge thereof, and a spreader extending through said pocket and rigidly secured to said frame for holding said cloth in position.

11. A suspension couch comprising a frame, a cover for said frame, means for supporting said frame, and a spreader rigid y secured to the under side ofsaid frame and holding said cover and said suspending means in position.
12. A- suspension couch comprising a frame, a cover for said frame, a spring mattress secured to said frame beneath said cover, a spreader, means carried by said spreader to suspend said couch, and means connecting said spreader to said frame, said latter means serv ng also to hold said cover in place.
13. A suspension couch comprising a frame, a cover extending over one side of said frame and aroundone edge thereof, a spreader rigidly secured to the other side 'of said frame, and outside of said cover, and holding said cover in place, and means carried by said spreader. for supporting said couch.
14. A suspension couch comprising a frame, a cover extendingover the upper side of said frame and around one edge thereof, a spreader rigidly secured to the under side of-said frame and outside of said cover, holding said cover in place, and means carried by said spreader for supporting said couch.
15. A suspension couch comprising a frame, a cloth for suspending said frame, having a pocket in one edge thereof, a spreader extending throrigh said pocket, and a cleat extending thrdugh said cloth and around said spreader and rigidly secured to said frame for holding said cloth in position.
16. A suspension couch comprising a frame, a cloth for suspending said frame having a pocket in one edge thereof, a spreader extending through said pocket, and a cleat extending through the two thicknesses of cloth forming said pocket and around said spreader and rigidly secured to said frame, for holding said cloth in position.
17.
