Description

naar saai @anni @imita Letters Patent No. 94,160, dated Angl/ust 24, 1869.
. -rMPRovnMnNT IN MILK-Coenen.
.The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the Same- To all whom tit may concern Be it known that I, GEORGE A. WnnooMB, of Morrison, in thecounty of lVhitesides, and iu the State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Mi1k-Cooler; ai1d do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact descrip? tion thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, making a part of this specification.
Ihe nature of my invention consists in the construction of a milk-cooler, and in the arrangement of certain devices hereafter lset forth and explained.
Figure 1 is a plan view of m'y cooler.
Figure 2 is a sectional view of the same.
Letter A represents a vessel of cylindrical or any convenient shape, which acts as areservoir for water, in which the second cylinder B is wholly or partly submerged.v
These vessels may be of any `desired size, and can be formed either of some metallic substance or wood.
Inside' of the cooler B-there is placed a third vessel, C, whichis intended to he filled with water, so as to have it on both ihe inner and outer Sides ofthe milk, which is placed in the cooler B.
v This cylinder C can be taken or removed from the cooler at pleasure, so that the coolery can be cleaned,
-and has one or more pipes, I), leading into it, so that water can be introduced.
A single pipe will answer for this purpose, made to extend up through the strainer E, or` there maybe two, so as to allow the air to escape from one while vthe water is being introduced through the other.
Extending from the bottom of the cooler B, andA running out through the side of the reservoir A, there is a pipe, F, Which should be provided with a faucet, fso that the milk, after being cooled, can be drawn oti.
Placed over the top of the cooler B is the strainer E, through which the milk is introduced into thel cooler. 'Ihe cylinder and cooler are connected by a hol`v low burr or nut,`which, when they are screwed to'- gether, allows the water in the reservoir A to flow in submerging the strainer, which tends to cool the sur#v plus milk remaining in it.
Il-[aving thus described my invention,
iVhat I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-f v The arrangement of the detachable funnel-shaped strainer E, the jacket al, and circumferential flange a, reservoirs A C, cooler B, and pipes D F, all constructed and operating as set forth.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing, I havel hereunto set 'my hand, this 29th lay of April, 1869.
` i GEO. A. NVHITCOMB.
