The primary object of this invention is to provide a chamber extending from side to side of the cabinet and having a transparent front wall and arranged a suitable distance above and rearwardly of the said seat and engaged by a forwardly facing index-holder adapted to holdan index-card and exhibit the index-card at the rear of the said transparent wall.
Another object is to form the said transparent wall by a glass slide which engages upright laterally spaced slideways and is removable upwardly from the said slidewa s for cleaning and other purposes.
nother object is to provide a cover or lid for the said chamberfor excluding dust and dirt from the said chamber and to attach the index-holder to the said lid so that the index-holder is rendered removable from the chamber with the lid.
lVith these objects in view, and to the end of realizing any other advantages hereinafter appearing, certain features of construction,. and combinations of parts hereinafter described,
the accompanying drawings.
In the said drawings, Figure 1 is a side view in vertical section of a cabinet embodyingmy invention. Fig. 2 is avertical section on line 2-2, Fig. 1, looking rearwardly. Fig. 3 is a horizontal section on line 3-3, Fig. 2, looking upwardly.
My improved cabinet is provided in'the usual manner with a substantially horizontally arrzmged seat A for a bill-file (not shown) and is provided a suitable distance above and rcarwardly of the said seat with Specification of Letters Eatent.
seat for a bill-file and ing a suitable this invention consists in the slab or plate I Patented Nov. 23, 1909.
Serial No. 488,600.
a chamber B whose bottom G is preferably formed by la substantially horizontally arranged wooden bar which is glued or otherwise secured to the back D of the cabinet,-
Wvhichback consists preferably of a wooden piece and forms the rear wall of the said chamber. The bottom C is connected by a diagonally arranged bar or piece E with the seat A at the rear end of the said seat.
The sidewalls of the chamber B are preferably formed by two substantially vertically arranged laterally spaced parallel wooden side pieces G arranged at opposite sides respectively of the cabinet and extenddistance forwardly of the froiit wall H of the said chamber. The wall H is formed preferably by gages at its side edges with grooves or slideways 5 formed in the inner sldos of the side the side pieces G and are therefore open at their upper ends, and the'plate or slide H loosely engages the said slideways to permit a glass or transparent plate which forms a slide and en-' its withdrawal upwardly from the slideways and consequently from the cabinet for cleaning or other purposes.
The chamber B is closed at its upper end by a cover or lid' K which rests upon the upper ends of the back or rear wall D and the side walls or side pieces G.
Rigid with the lid K is an index-holder which consists preferably of a plate or slab I of wood or other material, which slab or plate is glued or otherwise said lid and depends from the under side secured to the of the lid into the rear portion of the chamber Band is adapted to receive at its forward side an index-card (not shown) to be used in connection with the bill-file "for which the seat A forms a support as already indicated. Any index-card with which the pointed out in the claims and illustrated in the iridex -h ol dengbeing rigid witli heiidl is removable from the cabinet-with the 'lid t fl'ccommodaje' renewal or replacement of the index-clued to be carried-by Ithein'de i- I g 'Bythe construction hereinbefore described WiHF-Lbe} obser ized'i-that in my! improved c cabinet t wQjeubstentiaHy Vertically arranged f laterally speced'isl ideways are formedesuit;
