In the drawings-Figure 1 is a perspective view of a device embodying my invention. Fig. 2 is an enlarged detail view of the same in side plan view. Fig. 3 is a perspectiye view of the trigger employed in my invention. Fig. 4 is a top plan view of the trigger mechanism, the supporting rod being shown in section along the line 44 of is shown in the drawings, I provide a supporting rod 5 upon the top of which is mounted a pan 6 having upturned edges 7-7; about mid-way of its length the pan 6 is provided with the firing-block 8. The screw 9 passes through an opening in the firing-block 8 and through the bottom of the pan 6 into the top of the support 5, as shown in Fig. 2. One end of the firingblock 8 contacts 6 and is secured thereto upper extremity secured in the opening 19' wit-hwhich the trigger 15 is rovided. The base-plate 14 is extended to orm the brackets 20 and 21 which are slotted as indicated by the numeral 22 to receive the hammer 23 which is in the form illustrated in Fig. 3;

The coil-spring 28 is mounted loosely about the portion 24, its lower end being secured to or resting upon the upper face of its upper end being held in place against the shoulder 27 The upper face of the body 25 is adapted to pass through the opening 13 and the base of the pan 6 to strike and explode the fulminate cap 12 and thereby ignite the flashlight material contained in said pan.
The trigger 15 is provided with an exploding cord 29 terminating in a ring 30 at its lower end and being attached to the trigger 15 by being passed through the opening 19.
The hammer 23 is normally in the position illustrated in Fig. 1, the projection 31 of the trigger 15 resting in place upon the shoulder 26 of the hammer 23; the downward pull upon the cord 29 permits the cap 12 to be seated in place and by continuing said pull the trigger 15 is still further depressed, drawing with it the hammer 23, until the point 31 is disengaged from, and releases the hammer 23, which, thereupon, is driven upward by the spring 28 to discharge the cap 12. The cord 29 being released, the trigger 15 is carried upwardly by means of the sprin 17 and again seated in place upon the shoulder 26; the pivotal connection between the trigger 15 and the base-plate 14 at the point 16 being of such av character as to permit the outward play of the point 31 over the shoulder 26, as illustrated by the dotted lines in Fig. 4; the spring 17 being mounted around the body 32 to form a short coil spring, as indicated by the numeral 33 in Fig. 4.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to have secured to me by the grant of Letters Patent, is:
In a flashlight apparatus, the combination of a supporting rod; a pan mounted on the upper extremity of said rod; a firing-block mounted upon the upper face of the bottom of said-pan, said pan being provided with av perforation beneath the firmg-block; a baseplate mounted on the supporting rod; a trigger loosely and pivotally mounted on the base-plate; a slotted bracket mounted on said supporting rod; a hammer slidably mounted in the slots of said bracket; a spring whereby said hammer is normally held in contact with the firing-block; a spring nameto this specification, in presence of two whereby the trigger is normally held in consubscribing witnesses.
