Description

S. PELOSO.
NON-RBFILLABLE BOTTLE.
APPLIOATION riLnn 111:0. 1,1908.
Patented Nov.9, 1909.
W [TNESSES SALVATOR PELOSO, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
NON-REFILLABLE BOTTLE.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Nov. 9, 1909.
Application filed December 1, 1908. Serial No. 465,514.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, SALVATOR PnLoso, a citizen of the United States, residing at New York, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Non-Refillable Bottles; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
My invention relates to new and useful improvements in what may be termed nonrefillable bottles and it has for its object, as above indicated, to prevent the re-filling of a bottle by unauthorized persons.
It also has for an object to carry out these ends in a simple, inexpensive and effective manner.
Other objects and advantages will be hereinafter referred to and more particularly pointed out in the claim.
In the accompanying drawings which are made a part of this application, Figure 1 is a broken vertical section of so much of a bottle as may be used for illustrating the application of my invention, the feature of the invention being shown in full lines in the position it occupies when the bottle is filled and in dotted lines when empty. Fig. 2 is a plan view of the invention. Fig. 3 is a horizontal section produced on the line 33, Fig. 1.
In carrying out my invention, I make the neck of the bottle of the general outline, as disclosed, the same being of approximately truncated cone-shape as at 1, it also extending from the lower terminal of said portion in an outwardly and downwardly curved formation as at 2 and finally inclined inwardly and downwardly as at 3 in a relatively extended elongated manner to its point of conjunction with the body 4c of the bottle.
The upper end of the truncated, coneshaped portion of said bottle neck is formed with a relatively reduced opening 5 resulting from forming the to edge of the bottle neck with an inner annuFar flange 6, said flange serving as a stop for the cork or stopper, as 7, against its upward displacement or withdrawal from the bottle, to guard against any attempt to effect its clandestine or unauthorized removal, thus preventing the refilling of the bottle after having been emptied.
The cork is, in practice, of such cross section as to be readily displaced, from its position in the upper end of the bottle neck, downwardly, and assume the position indicated in dotted lines when the contents of the bottle are removed, beyond which, however, it may not be forced or pushed, thus preventing the flow of any liquid that may be inserted into the neck into the body after the emptying of the bottle, and effectively aiding in preventing the re-filling thereof.
It is noted that the lower inclined or reduced portion 3 of the bottle neck should be of such interior cross section as to permit the cork to fit loosely therein and yet not allow it to be forced therefrom into the body of the bottle. Said cork also should be of such dimension or length as to prevent its turning or assuming cross-wise position in the bottle neck, the purpose of which is apparent.
It will also be noted that the cork, while of sufficient cross section to fit the interior lower portion 3 of the bottle neck, will readily allow the flow of liquid from the bottle laterally thereof into the upper enlarged portion 2 of said neck and out through the bottle neck and its opening 5, thus permitting the proper discharge of the contents of the bottle.
From the foregoing it will be seen that an exceedingly simple, inexpensive and effective means has been provided for preventing the re-filling of a bottle by unauthorized persons, thus eifectively carrying out intended objects of the invention, as will be readily appreciated.
I claim:
A bottle having its neck provided at its extreme upper end with an annular flange extending inwardly from its inner surface and adapted to form a contraction of the pouring or entrance end of said neck, said neck having a downwardly and inwardly inclined portion terminating some distance below the upper edge of said neck, said neck also being rounded outwardly and then downwardly and inwardly to its point of connection with the body of the bottle, said point of connection forming also a contraction between the said neck and said body, In testimony whereof I have signed my and a closure of tapered outline and correname to this specification in the presence of sponding in general outline to the inner surtwo subscribing Witnesses.
face of the upper tapered portion of said SALVATOR PELOSO. 5 neck, said closure also being adapted to con- Witnesses:
form to the general interior surface outline SYLVESTER DANNAM,
of the loWer portion of said neck. DONATO PAVESE.
