HAIR WAVER 0R CURLER.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JULIUs R. BUX, a citizen of the United States, resident of Philadelphia, in the county of Philadelphia and State of Pennsylvania, have made a certain new and useful Invention in Hair Vavers or Curlers; and I declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the invention, reference being had to the accompanying drawings and to letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specication.
Figure l is a side view of the invention. Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the same partly broken away. Fig. 3 is a perspective View of a modified form of the invention partly broken away. Fig. i is a side view of the metal core. Fig. 5 is a cross section of the invention on an enlarged scale.
The invention relates to improvements in hair wavers or curlers having for an object to produce at small cost a waver that is durable, light in weight and which will not cut the hair in crimping, and it consists in the novel construction and combinations of parts as hereinafter set forth.
In the accompanying drawings, illustrating the invention, the letter a, designates the core or body of the device, which is formed of a semi-hard flexible metal strip or wire that may be bent upon itself, and the ends of which are preferably rounded at the corners as shown at a, a. Fitting over this metal core or body is a protective covering b, of woven fabric of any textile material, such covering being in the form of a tubular casing made separately from the body wire and into which such wire is slipped from one end.

The tubular woven casings b, are cut to lengths a little longer than the body wires and when such wires are slipped in place therein a little glue is applied to the ends of the tubular casings, which are twisted to squeeze out any excess of glue, when the ends will quickly become dry and will be securely held, covering in the ends of wires. The ends of the tubular casing may however be closed and held over the ends of the wire core in any other suitable manner, the process described being simple and expeditious.
No glue is applied to the wire core nor to the tubular casing except at the extremities thereof, and the wire is prevented from slipping out at the ends of the casing in use. The wire may be either flat or round in cross section.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
1. A hair crimper composed of a tubular casing and a pliable metal core, said casing being alittle longer than and having its walls non adherent to said core and securely closed ends to keep the core in place.
2. A hair crimper composed of a tubular casing and a pliable metal core, said casing being a little longer than and having its walls non adherent to said core, and an adhesive coated twisted end extension beyond an end of the core.
