Be it known that I, J ONAS NAUSE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Conyngham, in the county of Luzerne and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Seat Attachments; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

My invention relates to new and useful improvements in seat attachments and more particularly to that class adapted to be used in connection with closet seats and my object is to provide means for attaching a cushion to the seat and a further object is to provide means for holding the cushion under tension while in engagement with the seat.

Other objects and advantages will be hereinafter referred to and more particularly pointed out in the claim.

Referring to the drawings which form part of this application, Figure l is a top plan view of a portion of the closet seat, showing my imcproved cushion applied to use thereon, an Fig. 2 is a view of the closet seat showing the frame employed for holding the cushion in position.

Referring to the drawings in which similar reference numerals designate corresponding parts throughout the several views, 1 indicates the closet seat, which may be constructed in the usual or any preferred manner and 2 indicates the cushion adapted to cooperate therewith, which cushion is so arranged as to fit around the opening 3 in the seat, the object of which cushion, it is believed, will be readily apparent. The cushion 2 is provided with a frame l, which is preferably constructed on one section of wire, which is bent at its center to form a book 5, which hook is adapted to engage the edge of the opening 3 adjacent the rear portion thereof. At the termination of the hook 5 are formed loops 6, through which extend nails or similar retaining members, which nails are driven into the seat 1 and hold the frame in. position thereon. The

wires forming the frame after leaving the loop 6 are extended inwardly until the opening 3 is encountered and said wires then bent to conform to the curvature of the opening, each section of the wire at opposite sides of the hook 5, terminating in hooks 8 and 9, at the forward edge of the opening 3 and from the hooks 8 and 9 the wire is extended outwardly and then curved rearwardly to a point adjacent the loops 6, the free ends of the wire forming the frame being hooked into engagement with said loops, the curvature of the two sections of the wire being such as to cause an outward tension, whereby when the hooks 8 and 9 are engaged with the forward edge of the opening 3, the frame will be securely held in position around said opening. In constructing the frame in this manner, it will be readily seen that it can be formed of one continuous section of wire around which is to be secured the cushion 2 and when it is desired to attach the device to the closet seat, the hook 5 is first engaged with the rear portion of the opening 3 and the hooks 8 and 9 then moved inwardly and engaged with the forward portion of the opening and as the sections of the frame are slightly greater in length than the diameter of the opening, it will be necessary to exert a pressure on the frame sections to engage the hooks 8 and 9 with the opening in the seat, thus placing a tension on the frame sections,- which will serve to hold the cushion and frame in fixed position on the seat.

Should it be desired to retain the cushion on the seat, nails 7 are introduced through the loops 6 as shown, thereby securely holding the cushion and frame in position and it will be readily seen that if it is desired to remove the cushion, the hooks 8 and 9 are to be disengaged from the opening and the loops from the nails 7, which will be readily apparent.

What I claim is:
