To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, WILLIAM O. ALDRICH, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of l/Vhitinsville, in the county of Worcester, State of Massachusetts, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Thread-Boards, of which the following is a full, true, and concise specification.
My invention relates to thread-boards, and consists in the provision of a simple and effective means of securing the thread-guide to the finger-head whereby the said guide may be freely adjusted laterally as well as longitudinally and may be positively held in adjusted position with great security.
In the accompanying one sheet of drawings, which form a part hereof, Figure 1 is a front elevation of a single finger-head constructed according to my invention and with a portion of the front flange broken away;

The finger-head l is stamped of sheet metal with the usual front flange and reinforcing side flanges, the front flange being perforated with an oblong slot 2 for accommodating the shank of the thread-guide. An angular slot is formed in the flat body of the finger-head for receiving the head of the clamping bolt 3, and the portion of the fin ger-head body immediately surrounding the bolt-head slot is crimped or stamped with a series of divergent flutes or corrugations which radiate from the said bolt-head slot as a center, as indicated at 4 in Figs. 2 and 3.
The thread-guide 5, of usual form, has its shank bent to form a hook or open loop, with side members, marked 6 and 6 and is carried by thread-guide holder 7 (Figs. at and 5). The holder 7 is formed with a portion 8 constituting a bearing plate adapted to be clamped upon the finger-head, and another portion or extension 9 adapted to embrace and hold the thread-guide shank. The bearing plate is perforated to receive the clamping bolt and is crimped or otherwise provided with a number of diverging flutes or corrugations, similar to the corrugations of the finger-head, and adapted to mesh or lock therewith. Preferably the corrugations of the holder appear on both sides of the bearing plate. The extension 9 is formed as an ear bent up at right angles to the general plane of the bearing plate and in a tangential relation thereto, the said ear being perforated with a hole to accommodate the shank 6 and fitting it rather snugly. The side members 6 and 6 of the open loop are placed upon the holder, on either side of the clamping bolt, and by tightening the nut 10 (and washer), the thread-guide is pressed into engagement with the corrugations on the top of the holder, and at the same time the corrugations on the bottom of the holder are pressed into the correspondingcorrugations of the finger-head. The thread-guide is positively held from movement on the holder by virtue of the friction against the flutes, and is specially reinforced against angular or lateral movement thereon by the extension 9, through which it passes, while the holder itself is held against lateral or angular movement by the interlocking of the corrugations. By loosening the nut, however, the thread-guide may be longitudinally adjusted in the holder and the latter may be angularly adjusted on the clamping bolt 3 as a pivot, so that the threadguide proper, or pigtail, may be set to proper position with respect to the spindle and securely locked against displacement.
Having described my invention, what I claim and desire to secure by United States Letters Patent, is
1. In a thread board, a sheet metal finger head perforated with a bolt-hole and provided with corrugations adjacent to said hole, a thread guide having a smooth shank extremity and a thread guide holder interposed between the same and the finger head and provided with corrugations on both of its sides adaptedfor engagement, respectively, with the finger-head corrugations and the said thread guide extremity and a bolt in the said bolt-hole for clamping said parts together.
2.
