CARL A. PIEPHO, OF ST. LOUIS, MISSOURI, ASSIGNOR 'IO ST. LOUIS TIN & SHEET METAL WORKING COMPANY, A CORPORATION OF MISSOURI.
COMBINED SHOW-CASE AND RECEPTACLE-COVER.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, CARL A. PIEPHO, a citizen of the United States, and resident of St. Louis, Missouri, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Oombined Show-Gases and Receptacle-Covers, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to an improved combined show case and receptacle cover, and has for its object to provide a receptacle cover having a pocket covered by a transparent window, which may be removed from the receptacle and used for the purpose of independent display.
In the drawings l igure 1 is a central sectional view of my complete invention showing it in position on a receptacle. Fig. 2 is a top plan view of the same. Fig. 3 is an enlarged central sectional view. Fig. 4 is an enlarged sectional view of a portion of the device, showing the same when open.
In the construction of my invention, I provide a plate composed of an imper'forate bot tom 5, a peripheral rim 6 and a partition wall 7 parallel with said peripheral rim, all rigidly connected together. The partition wall 7 is so located as to form a central display pocket 8 in which are placed samples of the contents of the receptacle upon which the device is used as a cover. On the rim 6 is placed an annular top 9 provided with a depending flange 10 so arranged as to fit inside of the rim 6 to retain the cover in position, said annular top having a central open ing 1]. under which is placed transparent material 12 through which the articles in the (annpartmcnt 8 can be displayed.
The transparent material 12 is held in position by the braces 13 secured to the under surface of the top 9. The cover is hingedly mounted on the rim at the point indicated by the numeral 14L by means of the hinge 15 so that the cover can be readily operated as Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed August 31, 1908.
Patented Sept. 28, 1909.
Serial No. 451,095.
shown in Fig. i, when it is desired to re move or replace the articles for display. On opposite sides of the device I place handles 1.6 by which the device can be readily removed from and replaced on the receptacle.
On the bottom 5 I provide an eye 17 by which the entire device am be hung up on the wall or elsewhere.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to have secured to me by the grant of Letters Patent, is
A combined show case and receptacle cover comprising an imperforate bottom; a peripheral rim formed integral with said bottom; a partition wall projecting upwardly from said bottom and so located as to form a space between the same and the peripheral rim; a cover having a downwardly projecting flange and arranged to lit within the peripheral rim; said cover projecting inwardly covering the space formed by the partition wall and peripheral rim and provided with a central opening; a plate of transparent material located beneath the central opening and contactin with the inturned edge of the cover; braces carried by the cover and contacting with the transparent material holding the same in position so as to be conveyed with the cover; handles attached to the peripheral rim so that the device may be removed from its position on the receptacle; and an eye attached to the bottom, whereby the. device may be suspended independent of the receptacle, substantially as specified.
In testimony whereof, I have signed my name to this specification, in presence of two subscribing witnesses.
CARL A. PIEPHO.
