BEDSTEAD.
Specification of Letters Patent No. 9,347, dated October 19, 1852.
To all whom it may concern.
foot board, that may be raised or lowered,
and so as to hold the bed clothes in their proper place.
To enable others skilled in the art to make and use my invention7 I will proceed to describe its construction and operation.
I construct the bed stead in any otl the known forms, of cast iron or other material. The foot board, whether of wood, cast iron, or other material to be of two or more parts, the upper part stationary; the lower part movable, turning upon pivots as shown in Figs. 1l and 12 on the drawing, and to be turned up or held down in its place by a ratchet and pawl as shown in Figs. 5, 6, ll and l2 of thedrawing.
What I claim as my invention and desire to secure by Letters Patent is- The swinging foot board to serve the purpose of a clasp for securing the bed clothes,
it being held down by a ratchet and pawl or otherwise.
