RENOVATOR.

To all whom it may concern:

IBe it known that I, JACOB I-I. BROWN, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of the, city of New York, borough of Manhattan, the county and Stat-e of New York, have invented a new and Improved Renovator, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.

This invention is an improvement in renovators, having in View a manually-operated device for household use in which the dust 'The preferred embodiment of the invention described in a general way consists of two upright wheel-supported frames rigidly connected together at the bottom by a platform, and at suitable ,points thereabove; a receptacle seated on the plat-form; a nozzle which is applied to the part to be cleaned; a rotary pump supported between the frames, having its inlet connected with the nozzle and discharging into the receptacle and a driving mechanism for the pump, journaled on the frame.

Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings forming a part of this specification, in which similar characters of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the views.

Figure 1 is a front elevation of a renovator embodyin my invention; Fig. 2 is a side elevation o the same, partly in'central vertical section on the line 2-2 of Fig. 1;

. and Fig. 3 is a perspective view of a nozzle for the reception of these bolts 82 which is substituted for. the nozzle shown in Figs. 1 and 2 when parts, at an elevation are to be cleaned.

More specifically' described, the renovator is constructed of two upright skeleton side frames 5, 5, rigidly connected together at the bottom by a platform 6 and supported on the wheels or casters 7. ing affixed thereto between the frames, at one side, a large gear 14 which is in mesh' with a small gear 15 fixed to a shaftyl. The shaft 16 is also journaled yin bearings carried by the frames 5, and has a large fixed gear 17 at the opposite side of the machine, in mesh with a small gear 18 secured to a shaft 19 which is journaled in bearings carried by the frame below the shaft A16, and forms the axis of a rotary pump 20. The casing of this pump is extended on its lower side, as best shown in Fi 2, and through' which pass the bolts 8, rigidly connecting it with the frame.

At .the frontof the machine a flaring nozzle 21 is secured, having a narrow intake opening arran ed adjacent to the floor and to the forwar( side of whichy is secured a iexible guard 22. The nozzle is detachablf connected by a clamp 23 to a pipe 24 lea ing tothe inlet of the pump. The discharge or outlet of the pump. is through a dependin neck 25 into a receptacle 26 seated on the p atform 6. The cover of the receptacle islslidable over the neck 25 and is prevented from droppin therefrom,.when the receptacle is removed, by a nut/or enlargement 27. This construction makes it possible to remove the receptacle, for emptying its contents, by slidin the cover up; wardly and then withdrawing the body of the receptacle from the platform in a lateral direction.

When it is desired to cleanse parts elevated above the floor, I provide a nozzle 21a in all respects like the nozzle 21, which,

instead of being connected directly with the inlet pipe 24, is joined thereto through the intermediary of a flexible pipe or hose 28, this hose being of suitable length to reach the points desired to renovate.

Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secureby Letters Patent:
