Description

G. W.JCOL E, or FARMI-NGTON, ILLINOIS.
Lette/rs Potent No. 93,277, dated August 3, 1869.
IMPROVEMENT IN GARDEN-PLOW.
The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the same.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, G. W. COLE, of Farmington, in the county of Fulton. and State of Illinois, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Garden- Plow; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full and exact description of the same, reference be ing had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon.
This invention relates t0 an improved garden-plow; andconsists in certain specialties of construction, the detailsof which will be fully described hereinafter.
In the drawings- Figure l 'is a side' elevation of my improved ma chine, and
Figures 2 and 3, detached views,v,showing the slotted standard.
To enable others skilled in the art to make and use my invention, I will now proceed to describe fully its construction and method of operation.
A A represent the handles, which, extending forward, form also the side-pieces of frame in which the Wheel B has its bearings.
The rear ends of thev handles are united by means' of the cross-piece b, and their front ends by means of the U-shaped rod C,
D represents a curved standard, tothe lower end of which the plow d is attached. A
' Its upper end is slotted, and has a vertical movement upon the rod E.
To prevent lateral motion", and secure a vertical the rod E, passing through, the standard D is held in place by tightening the nut on the end of rod E.
G G represent braces, holding the lower end of standardD.
The operation of my machine will be readily understood without special description.
I am well aware that garden-plows, somewhat'similar to mine in principle, have been made; but the principle I do not claim. I desire to cover my special features of construction, by means of which a light and strong plow can be made at a small cost.
Having thus fully described my invention,
lVhat I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The garden-plow described, consisting of the handles A A, Wheel B, U-shaped rod `C, slotted standard D, rod E, coneshaped. blocks F F, and braces G, when constructed substantially as described, for the purpose set forth.
This specification signed and witnessed, this 21st day of June, 1869.
G. W. COLE.
