Description

I. CONRAD.` STROP FOR SAFETY RAZOR BLADES.
APPLIoA'rIoy FILED Mn 8.1909.
932586.` f v PatenteaAugLlsos.
UNITED STATES PATENT oEEicE.
ISAIAH GONRAD', 0F PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA.
s'rnor FonsAFETY-Razon BLADES..
simple inexpensive strop, which can-be con` veniently operated to strop the blades of ordinary safety razors.y
With this object in view, the invent-ion consists in certain novel features of construction, and combinations and arrangement-s of parts as will be more fully hereinafter de scribed and pointed out in the claim.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1,
`is a perspective view illustrating my -im- A proveniente.
Fi 2, 4is va view in longitudinal section, an Fig. 3, is a view in eleva-- tion' of the strop extended.
1. represents a strip, preferably ofleather, such as ordinarily employed in the manufacture of razor strops, and 2,'2, are metal plates secured to the strip 1 adjacent itsends, so that when t-he strip is bent between its ends as shownin Fie. 1, these'metal plates 2 will be onV the outside in convenient position to be grasped by the thumb a-nd'fingers of the user, so as to press the ends of the strop. toward each other.
It will be noted that the extreme ends of the leather strip project out slightly beyond' Specication of Letters Patent.
Application led May 8, 1909. Serial No.. 494,785.
the edge of the metal plates 2, so that when a raor blade 3 is drawn out from between the ends of the strop, the metal plates cannot `contact with the razor blade. l
The operation is as follows: The razor blade 3 is' heldin any desired manner, and the strop is positioned over the blade as shown in Fig. 1, and is then drawn oit the blade over the cutting edge ofthe latter, and
a continued loperation of drawing the strop oft they blade will serve to etfectnally sharpen the blade.
Slight changes mightbe made in the general form and arrangement of parts' described without departing from my inven tion, and hence lI do not restrict. myself to the precise details set forth, but consider myself at libertv to make such changes and alterations as fairly fall within the spirit alid scope of the claim.
Having thus described my invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:v
As an article of manufacture, a device of `the character described, comprising a flat strop bent between its ends, and metal plates secured upon the outer face of said strop adj ]acent its ends, whereby the end portions ot' f the strop are held smooth and `flat.
In testimony whereof I have signed my yname to thisl specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses. I
ISAIAH CONRAD. Witnesses:
