To all whom it may concern.- H
Be it known that I, Gnonen HENRY REN- WOQTH, acitizen of the United States, residinget the city and county of Kalamazoo, Stetset'll'lichigen, hsveinvented cert-sinnew useful improvements in Temporary Einders or Loose i ieilowing is n This temporary binders or loose sheet holders.
The main objects of this invention are: le to provide an improved temporary hinder or" the impcling pin type, which may be opened flat eteny point. to expose any desired sheet or lost. Second, to provide animnroved temporary binder or loose sheet holder, which n at any desired point for the insertion emoval any particular sheet or leaf and quickly closed and secured. Third, to DIQVlfe en improved temporary binder or sh ,ct holder of the impnling pin type in which the leaves ere very securely held so tit is quite impossible for them to work @he pins. Fourth, to provide an improvedbinderof the type described which is l 1nd economical in structure.
their objects, end objects relating to u l details, will definitely appear from eiled description to follow. oe'rnplish'the objects of my invention t evices and ineensdesoribed in the ing specification. ihe invent-ion is clearly defined and claims. A structure embodying the features of my is clearly ilhistrcted in the eecom g dreiwin forming n pert of this speci- 1, in whici sp cciiio etion.
plan view ol'my .mproved hinder, the covers being shown pen, the binding mechanism being closed. 2 is s detail plan of my improved, binder closed, the securing eiof l l, the binding mechanism being 5 is spersneotive view oi the rewider securing menus.
ere irection of, the little E$h set-Holders, of which the invention relates to improvements in r be quickly and ensily' 9, thus effectively means being shown in its open position by dotted lines. Fig. 3 1s a.
a. line corresponding to line I member 1, which is refernbly substantially fiat, as illustrated. 'ioeech edge of this beck member, I hinge a binding member 2. At the forward edges of these binding members, the covers 3 are hinged. The beck-member, binding members end covers are preferably provided with a continuous covering; 41, which forms the hinges 5 for the binding members to the heck member, end the hinges 6 for the cdvers to the binding members, es clearly eppeers in Fig. 3, thus forming a. very satisfactory and at the some time economical construction, and one which is attractive in sppeerenoe.
' The impelirng pins 7 are preferably curved end are secured to the metal strips 8, which form part of the binding members. On the inside of the binding members, 1 preferably arrsngeleef-engsging strips 9, the binder is closed, are adeptedto engage the rear ends of the leaves, and, when the book is "full, to clamp the some between them. The impnling pins are so arranged that their outer ends, when the binder is closed, lie in front of the leaf-engaging strips preventing the leaves workingoff the impeling pins.
I preferably provide my improved binder with four impeding pins, two carried by each binding member. This permitsof the binder being opened at eny desired point without any of the leaves being freed from the iinpnling' pins, as all the leaves or sheets shove the place where it is desired. to insert to remove a sheet may be swung over with the top coveron the impnling' pins 'erried by the top binding member. The iinpoling pins are preferably so arranged that they serve to support the binding members when the binder is closed; that is, they prevent their collapsing when the binder is only partially filled with sheets or leaves.
The retainer 10 for securing the binder in its closed position is preferably in the form illustrated and has a flange 11 at each end adapted to close over the bindingmembers, as shown in Fig. 2. This retniner'is preferably pivotally secured to the bottom binding member by means of the extension 12ml one of its fiengresfe pivot, as l J I.) 1 This permits of being provided.
