Letters Patent N0.93,160, dated August 3, 1869.
IMPROVEMENT IN RANKIN ATTACHMENT.
The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and rnaking part Of he Same- To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, PARDON Ansrrm, of- Medina, in the county of Outagamie, and State of Wisconsin, have invented a new and improved Fanning-Mill Attachment; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable others skilled in the art to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, forming pai't of this specification.
The object of this invention is to provide an improved arrangement of elevating-apparatus for fanning-mills, for receiving the grain from the discharge-apron of the mill, and delivering it into bags or other receptacles.
The invention consists in the arrangement of the attaching and operating-apparatus, to adapt the elevators for attachment to any mill, as hereinafter more fully specified.
Figure 1 represents a longitudinal sectional elevation of my improved attachment, and a fanning-mill, to which it is applied.
Figure 2 represents a plan view of the same.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
The elevator-case,A, is suspended from thefanningmill by a cord, B, connected to a hook,-O, thereon, and books 0, on each side of the said elevator-case, at .the top, and by hooks E, at the bottom, so as to hold the bottom at the centre of the apron F of the fanningmill, to receive the grain which is discharged at the said centre, by guides thereon, suitably placed for the purpose.
Motion is imparted to the elevator by a belt, G, from a pulley on the fan-shaft to a similar pulley on the upper shaft of the said elevator,
A tension-bar, H, is connected to the posts I of the fanning-mill frame, on the side to which the drivingpulleys and cord G are placed, and so arranged that one end projects to a point coincident with the axis of the upper shaft K of the elevator, and supports the end of the said shaft. The outer end is also connected by a hook or link, L, to the side of the elevator-case.
This bar is capable of adjustment longitudinally, and serves to tighten the driving-belt G, and to support the shaft K properly, and may be readily detached from the posts I, on which it is supported by recessed cleats, M, which may be fastened readily to the posts of any mill.
Having thus described my invention,
What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The arrangement, with relation to the fanning-mill, the elevator E, and shaft K, of the cord B and adjustable bar H, as herein described, for the purpose specified.
. PARDON AUSTIN,
