The objectof the present invention is to improve the construction ot' clothes pound-l crs, and to equip a clothes pounderwvitha simple, practical and durablesoap receptacle7 which will not obstruct the ioW. of water on the down stroke or decrease the suction of the clothes pounder on the up stroke.
Another object of the invention is to ar.
range the fsoap-receptacle so that fabrics I during the operation of the clothes pounder will not become caught on the soa receptaf.
cle and impede the movements 'of t ie clothes pounder. f i
A further object of the invention is to provide means foin preventing the handle of the clothes pounder from sticking in the handle socket, should the handle become swollen through frequent immersions in the Water.
vWith these and other objects in View, the invention consists in the construction `and novel combination' of parts hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying d 'uu/ing, and pointed out in the claim hereto appended; it being,` umlerst'oodthat various changes in the forni, proportion, size and minor details of cons tinction, Within the scope of the claim, may be vresorted to Without departing troni the spirit or sacrificing.
any of the advantages of the invention.
In the diawizigz-ll`igiire l is a reverse plan View of a' clothes pounder7 constructed in accordance Withth-is'invention. Fig. 2 is a vertical sectional view on theline 2n?. of Fig." 3 is a similar View on` the line o-o Of Fig.
Like numerals of reference' designate lcorf responding paris in all the liguresv of the drawing.
The clothes pounder comprises in itsv construction an approximately conical body l, equipped on its interior with a plurality of air chambers Q., formed by`scnii-conical sheet metal members, secured at the side edges to the inner face of the vconical body and eX! tending downward'from the up er portion thereof and terminating short o? the lower edge ot the saine, as clearly iliustrated .in Fig. 3 oi the drawing.
'lhe clothes pounder is irovide-cl with, s central vertical tube il, the top or apex oi 'the c'onicftl bodji ing its upper portion L it loneitu 4 to provide en. enpansible l 4f, The expansible handle `socket prevent a Wooden handle stu' should the handle become swollen tl`l frequent iminersions in vict-e1: Ey the handle socket longitudinally at one side, the handle may be readily placed in re moved from the socket.
The lower interiorlj,T arranged portion of the vertical tube. 3 snpports afcentreliy arranged conical soap recentacle 6./ connected at the top With the lower the vertical. tube 5 and lievinc "t, edge or portion 7 thread i tt. le threaded illange or portion 8 of a concevoconvex cap 9, covering the bottoni of the. receptacle and presenting a lower conface to the clothes. The een'. which screws on the. threaded portion of tile' conical soap receptacle, may, he'ivevin'e be detachably `connected with the saine b y any other snitable means7 as will. be real` A understood. The cap of 'the soap receptacle is provided with a flaring` annular memberv cr cone tion l0, forming coi'i'tinuation ot the walls of the conical soap receptacle and arranged to enga-gc the clothes to :resist in the wirst ing,- operation. The conical flange-or incinh ber l0 und the centrally arranged soap rc ceptaole are spaced .troni the conical body. and the intervening annuler space between the soap receptacle und the conical body is not obstructed, as is the case where 'the soap receptacle is located at one side oi" the center of thel clothes pounder.
The conical sozlp receptacie is provided with openings ll,i and it connected with the exterior of the clothes pounder by incl-ined dianietrically arranged tubes l2, forming braces oand rigidly connes" n" the soup rcrfcptuclc with thc conical body. The conical body also provided ut the outer ends o'f the vent tubes with openings r`i`lie vent tubes l2 'forni passage, 1 air and Water, and permit the water to pass through the soup rc nat-lc, whereby the clothes are thorough y souped when noted on by the clothes pounder.
The clothes pounder operates in the usual igt manner, creating a sucon on the up Stroke sind forming au' and Water lhrough the clothes on `the down stroke.
Having thus fully described my invention,
lwhat I claim LS new and" desiie to Secure iiod by the lower end of the voitoul tnbo :i cap covering the bol'tom lof the Soap rovoptacle and provided will; `awcoinoal flange o1' member forming :L continuation of ih@ Walls of the receplaolo and extending downward and onl'wzu'd beyond 'rho' same, und (lilgnnoliiiczilly fuizingod inclined tubos oxlondingyoin the soap recept/nolo lo the conculxfljooyi and colnnninioziling with tho oxtrioif of tho lni'lior'zind with (he iuleiioi of the 'nopfundo.
