WILLIAM R. BLOWERS, OF TORONTO, ONTARIO, CANADA.
BATH AND COMPLEXION BRUSH.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented June 29, 1909.
Application filed. December 15, 1908. Serial No. 467,670.
To all whom it may concern:
I Be it known that 1, WILLIAM R. BLOWERS, of the city of Toronto, in the Province of Ontario, Canada, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Bath and Complexion Brushes, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to brushes formed of rubber and clasped about the hand for bath and other purposes and In object is to devise a brush of this type which will be equally adapted for use as a bath and complexion brush. The brush, with this object in view, has its rubbing surface formed of closely set pa illae each of which comprises an annular wal surrounding a slender central teat, the top of which extends up substantially level with the to of the annular wall.
Figure 1 1s a face view of a bath and complexion brush constructed in accordance with my invention. Fig. 2 is an enlarged sectilolnal view taken through a few of the pa 1 2e.
n the drawings like letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in the different Referringparticularly to Fi 1, A is a band adapted to e passed around t e hand and secured by a dome fastener B, or in any other suitable manner. The middle portion of the band is substantially elliptical in sha e in the direction of the length of the ham and is closely set with a number of papillae C. It is preferable that a majority of these papillae should be formed with an external annular wall a and a central and preferably slender teat b. The end of the teat also preferably extends up substantially level with the top of the annular wall surrounding it. It is found that with this construction of the papillae a brush is formed which is useful for use in the bath as a complexion brush. The annular walls of the papillae are sufficiently firm to make the brush stiff enough for a thorough rubbing of the skin, while when the brush is used on the face the central teats give the rubbing surface a softer effect than would the annular walls alone, providing a central support which prevents the skin sinking too far into the pa illze. The teats being slender of course yiel when the brush is used in more vigorous style, as it would be on the users body. The annular walls also sufpport the teats so that they cannot bend far rom their normal osition perpendicular to the surface to which they are connected and are thus always held up to their work.
What I claim is 1. A rubber bath and complexion brush having its rubbing surface provided with closely set papillae each comprising an annular wall surrounding a central teat.
2. A rubber bath and complexion brush having its rubbing surface provided with closely set papillm each com rising an annular wall surrounding a slen er central teat. which extends up substantially level with the top of the annular wall.
Toronto this 2nd day of December, 1908. V
WILLIAM R. BLOWERS.
Signed in the resence of:-
J. EDW. AYBEE, F. W. MoKENDRIoK.
