1n the operation of'rny construction a small tire is kept constantly in the central furnace, so as to constantly keep a draft in the stacks 3 and also to oxidize and deodorize the gases and fumes which are given ott' by the matter in the latrines. When the pans 17 have become sutheiently tilted with solid matter and the tanks 30 and the pains i8 lilled ivith liquid, tires are builtJ in the latrines. This evaporates the moisture in the solid matter contained in the pans 17 and also evaporates the liquid in the pans 48. The fumes and vapors lgiven ott pass through the pipes 29 and are delivered in front and just over the tire, so that the fumes and vapors are completely oxidized and deodon ized. Vilhen the solid matter in the pans 17 has been evaporated to dryness a Wrench is put on the squared ends Q1 of the journals and the pans turned bottom side up dumping the solid matter remaining in the pans into the tire where itcompletely consumed. The pans are then turned back to their normal position and the liquid in the tanks 30 let into the pans by means of the valves 45. This liquid is evapora ted and after this has been completed the pans can again be turned over and their interior exposed to the direct action of the llames in order to thoroughly clean there. After the above described operations have been completed the tires in the latrines are allowed to burn out or they may be Withdrawn and as soon as the apparatus has cooled sutlieiently it again ready for use.
