IMPROVEMENT IN APPLE'l-PARERS.

The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the same.

To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, GOTTLIEB H. WILBE, of Anrora, in the county of Kane, and State of Illinois,

have invented a new and useful Improved Apple- Parer; and I do hereby declare the followin'gto he affull, clear, and exact description of the same, rference being had to the accompanying drawings, and the letters and figures marked thereon, in which- Figure 1 represents a sideelevation;

Figure 3, a side of the guide, detached;

Figure 4, an edge view of the same; and

Figure 5, a side view of the knife-blade,'with the of house-knife handles.

I cut the notches, or slotsD and E, in the knifeblade A, in such relative position and of' such depth as to accomplish the result hereafter' described.

C is a bent\or formed Wire, the ends of which are secured to the slots D and E by means of pins F, said pins .having heads onone end, while the other end is securely fastened to tlfe wire.

By slipping one of the pins F into the slot D, the

head-on the pin serving to hold it there, and-springing the other pin down into the notch E, the wire C is held near the edge of the knife-blade, as shown in figs. 1 and 2.

The wire C is readily removed from the knife-blade, for cleaning or other purposes, by simply springing the pin F from the notch E.

The location of the notches D and E, in the'knifeblade, may be varied, but the shape of the wire gauge or guide would have to he correspondingly varied, so

that it would pass along the edge of the knife, near enough thereto to form a guide in paring the apple, or other fruit or vegetable.

It will be observed that any ordinary case-knife can be readily made into an apple-parer, by-cutting the notches D and E in the blade, and Aattaching thereto the wire C.

Having thus fully described the construction and' operation of my invention,

What I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

Combination of guide O, pins F, and blade A, when constructed and arranged so as to operate snbstantially as and for the purposes specified. Y 4 GOTTLIEB H. WILDE.
