U N rrnn s'm'rns PATENT OFFICE.
HIUKRAN M. DON JIAN, OF WASHINGTON, DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA.
REMOVABLE BIDETFOR WATER-CLOSET BASINS.
' To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that l, DICKRAN Maunmos DON JIAN, of Washington, District of (Jolunm bia, have invented certain new and useful in Removable Bidets for W ater-Closet Basins; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being bad to the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this s medication, and to the figures and letters of reference marked thereon.
This invention relates to toilet appliances, and is particularly adapted for use in connection with water-closets of modern construction, the objects of the invention being to provide a means whereb water-closets as now ordinarily constructor may be'temporarily and conveniently converted into a bidet. I
The invention consists primarily in a removable bidet attachment for closet basins embodying a rim adapted to seat on the rim of the closet basin and having a flexible water suppily connection whereby the bidet may be eas' and quickly-placed in position or removed rom the closet.
The invention further consists in makin the removable bidet with a rim adapted to embrace the rim of the closet bowl at the front and having a substantially plane supporting rim at the rear whereby the bidet may be used in connection with closet basins of various sizes and shapes. 7
The invention further consists in certain novel details of construction and combinations and arrangements of the parts all as will be now described and pointed out particularly in the appended claims. In the accom anying drawin s: Figure 1 1s a lan view m a removable bir let embodymg 1; e present invention. Fig. l a is an elevation of a bracket for supportin the flexible water connection and on which the.bidet Fig. 2 is a section on the line 2 2, Fig. 1. Fig. 3 is a vertical section in a central plane from front to rear, showing the removable bidet in position on a closet basin. Fig. 4 is an elevation showing the bidet suspended on its supportin bracket.
Simi ar characters of reference in the several figures indicatelike parts.
The removable bidet attachment of the present invention embodies a broad rim A adapted to rest on the rim B of a closet basin,
Specification of Letters Patent. Application filed December 2, 1908.
Patented May 18, 1909. Serial No. 486,609.
the said bidet rim at the front being flanged downwardly, )referably in a smooth curve to fit the front of the closet basin rim and thereby form a smooth contact surface for the person of the user and hold the bidet a ainst displacement toward the rear. The auge a extends only a short distance back side as shown in Fig. 4 and in dotted lines in Fig. 3, and inrear of the flange the rim A is made relatively broad and flat whereb the device is well ada )ted to fit closet basins of various shapes an sizes.
'lhe rim A at the rear serves as the sup ort for the water supply connection WlllC is shown in the'form of a cock C, having a discharge at 0 within the bidet, and to which any desired form of nozzle or spray connection may be attached. A rubber tube D having a rose D at the end is illustrated as a convenient form of discharge connection. Water is led to the cock through a flexible hose pipe E adapted to be secured to the bidet at either side of the cock by clips F and to be supported intermediate its ends by a wall bracket G on which the bidet may also be suspended when out of use, as shown in Tn the referred construction the bidet is formed with a central bowl orbasin A which passes down into the closet basin, but is of much less depth, whereb the water held in it may be utilized if so dhsired, and to revent accidental filling of the bidet beyon the safety point as well as to provide a convenient means for emptying the same an overflow and discharge 0 enlng H is rovided in the rear wall of the idet basin ,elow the rim.
A handle I at the front serves as a convenient means either for removing the bidet from the closet and hanging the same on its bracket, or for lifting the front for discharging the water through the opening Hf n this connection it may be note that in lifting the device by the handle I it will naturally tip u into a position sufficiently inclined to discl farge the basin completely, before the whole device is lifted from the closet, and to facilitate such discharge the bottom of the basin is preferablj inclined u wardly toward the rear. The wall of the asin also prevents lateral displacement of the device as a whole. Having thus described the invention, what is claimed, is: g
1. A removable bidet for water-closet basins embodying a rim adapted to seaoon the adapted to seat on closet basin rim, a downwardly extending part for holdin the bidet against lateral displacement, an a water supply connection.
2. A removable bidet for water-closet basins embodying a relatively wide substantially flat rim adapted to seat on the closet basin rim, and a '1 wnwaidly extending flange extending artially around the rim for preventing latera dis laeement.
3. A removable bi et for Water-closet basins embodying a horizontally extending rim the rim of the closet basin, and a central depressed basin to be sup orted by the rim Within the )set basin, sal bidet basin having an overflow discharge opening below the rim. bidet for water-closet bal extending rim closet-basin,
4. A removable sins embodying a horizontally adapted to seat on the rim of the a downwardly extending flanged art at the front of said bidet rim and a centre de ressed basin adapted to be supported wit in the closet basin and having'a discharge opening below the rim.
5. A removable bidet for water-closet basins embodying a horizontal rim adapted to seat on the rim of the closet basin and having a handle at the front, a central depressed basin supported by said rim and having an overflow opening at the rear below the mm, a Water-Suppl 1 connection carried by the rim, and a fiexi le pipe leading to said watersupply connection.
