This invention relates to certain improvements in spring-bed bottoms, whereby the-same are made more durable and convenient, and more easy to repair.
The invention consists in dividing the frame into three compartments, by transverse partitions, the central compartment, containing the springs, being covered by the hinged cushion, andthe two end compartments, by means of headand foot-cushions, that are adapted to be removed and changed to form the head or foot at either end of the frame, as will be hereinafter more fully described.
A, in the drawing, represents the frame of my improved spring-bottoin. In it are arranged the springs B B, in suitable manner.
Y Two cross-partitions O G, are arranged in the frame A, near the ends ofthe same, to divide the frame into three compartments, those at the ends being but narrow.
D is the cushion by which the springs are covered. This cushion is arranged'on a frame, a, which is hinged to the frame A, as shown in fig. 3, sothat by swinging the frame a open, the springs B will be un-` covered, and the under side of the cushion broughtln `position for inspection or repair.
The cushion D and its frame a only extend over the middle compartment, which is formed between the partitions C.
The end compartments receivev separate head and foot-cushions, E and F, respectively.
These latter cushions are formed on frames of suitable consti-action, and are placed upon the frame A,
and locked thereto by suitable means. They are both of equal width, as well as the end compartments.
The head and foot-cushions can theretore he readily reversed, when it is desired to change the bed, or when-
