To all whom it may concern:

citizen of the United States, and a resident of the cit of New York, borough of Brooklyn, in t e county of Kings and State of New York, have invented a new and l1nproved Door-Han er, of which the following is a full, clear, on exact descri tion.
This invention relates to angers for doors, windows or the like, and more par ticularly to a device of this class which comi'ises a hollow track, a carrier for support mg the door or other movable object, a, retamer havin a limited movement longitudinally of t e carrier and embracing both sides of a flange'of the carrier, andmollers or other anti-friction devices positioned. by the retainer, at opposite sides of the lien and movahly engaging at the inside of t e track.
An object of the invention is to provide a simple, inexpensive and efficient han er for doors, slidin windows or similar 0 jects, by means 0 which the door or window is supported so that it can he opened or closed wit little friction, and requires but a slight expenditure of effort to operate it, and in which the hanger occupies comparatively little space.
A further object of the invention is to provide a door hanger in which the door carrier is movably arranged within a hollow track, anti iriction devices bein provided between the carrier and the trac at the inside of the latter, so that the door can'xnove lon 'tudinally of the track with little friction an is held a ainst uprward or downward displacement, V e antiiotion devices serving to position the door against such dis placement.
The invention consists in the construction and combination of parts to be more fully described hereinafter and particularly forth in the claims.

Before proceeding to a more detailed explanation of my invention, it should be clearly understood that while the same is particularly useful as a hanger for sliding doors, for example, in elevators and the like, it can also be advantageously applied to other like purposes. By the provision of a hollow track. with the door carrier movable artly within and longitudinally of the track, the antidriction devices can be substantially inclosed, and are thus protected to a large eX- tout agi'iinst excessive wear, injury, or the accumulation of dirt, grit or the like thereon. I provide a carrier which is T-sha ed in cross section; that is, it has lateral iango's adapted to he movably seated within the track. site sides of the flange and eimsequently enragz'e at opposite sides, of the track. thereby homing the carrier against movement or displacement up and down with respect to the track. The door 15 or other object to be supported can be secured to the carrier in any convenient manner, for example, by means of screws 16 or the like 'passing through suitable openings l? in the body 14 of the carrier. At the ends, the track has caps 18 which close the track and have cross-shaped o )enings 1!) therethrough. The caps are old in place by means of screws 20, or in any other conven ient manner. The openings 19 ol the ca 1s permit the carrier 12 to be moved out of the track at the ends thereof, as is shown most clearly in Fig. l. The carrier, at the extremities, has upwardly extending projections or pins 21 constitutim, stops. The 0 ienings 19 are so formed that they permit the stops 21 to pass therethrough without difliculty. The track can be. mounted in )lace in any suitable manner, for example, by means of bolts 22 extending upwardly from the. caps and having the heads countersunk therein. The bolts 22 are secured to the brackets 23 which are nda )ted to he secured to the door frame, or ot ier tixed support.
A retainer 24 is movably mounted upon the carrier and consists of an elongated body having at opposite sides mate the middle, downwardly and inwardly disposed flanges 25 which engage at the edges underneath the llange 13 of the carrier, the retainer being seated on the upper face thereof. Between the llanges 2'5 and the ends of the retainer are pairs of sockets 26 diagonally dis msed with respect to the retainer and l'ormei to receive anti-friction devices 37 consisting preferably of bearing balls. The sockets are downwardly tapered or otherwise suitably fashioned to hold said balls loosel At the ends, the retainer is provide with downwardly extending sides 28 having inwardly disposed and separated wings .181. It will be iuulerstood that the retainer thus positions the. rollers above and below the flangeol' the carrier, the rollersbeing thus adapted to engage at opposite side, that is, at the top and the bottom of the track, as is shown most clearly in Fig. 5. In the modilie-d form shown-in Fig. 7, the track 31 is of circular or curved cross section the remaining parts being suitably formed where necmisary, to accommodate themselves to this s mp0 of the truck. The re-.

'lhe retainer is movable longitudinally of the traek and its movemeiit is limited by the stops 2] upon the carrier. 'lhese stops at the same time serve to limit the of t he carrier out of the track, and thus limit the movement of the door. The length of the track equals the width of the door 0 enin e s and consequently the width ofthe oor, and hence is positioned half over the door opening and tall at one side. When the door is closed as is shown in Fig. 1, it is projected substantially half its width from one end of the track. To 0 )en the door it is moved along the track until it projects substantially half its width beyond the opposite end of the track as is indicated in dotted outline in Fig. I. \Vhen the carrier is at'one end ol its travel, the retainer engages at the inner side of the corres )onding cap and at the stop on the carrier, thereby limiting the pro'eotion of the carrier from the track.- W on the door is in its opposite position, the retainer engages the ('a.) and is enga ed in turn by said stop which was previousy outside the track, with the projecting portion of the door.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent:
1. A door-manger, u :nprising a track having spaced upper and lower parts, a carrier for supportinp a door and having a flange between said upper and lower parts, a retainer movably mounted upon said carrier and adapted to engage at the ends of said track to limit the movement thereof, said carrier having stops limiting the movement of said retainer longitudinally of said carrier, and rollers enga ing between said flange and said upper and ower parts respectively, of said track, said rollers being positioned by said retainer.

A door hanger comfprising a. hollow track, a carrier having a ange within said track, a retainer movable on said carrier, said carrier having stops for limiting the movement of said retainer, caps at the ends movement emn s permitting the movement theret roug 0 said stops but preventing said retainer from leaving said track, and rollers positioned at opposite sides of said flange by said retainer.
5. A door hanger comprising a hollow track, a carrier movable within said track and having at the u per part a transverse laterally extending things, a retainer movable upon said flange and having flanges engaging at the under side of said flange, said .retainer havin sockets at the upper side of said flange, ro ers in said sockets, said retainer having. downwardly and inwardly disposed sides each aving spaced wings, a roller between said wings of each of said .sides under said flange, stops on said carrier for limiting the movement of said retainer, and means. at the ends of said track permitting the movement out of saidtrack of said carrier, and preventing the movement out of said track of said retainer.
7.
