In an apparatus for roasting and sintering ore, the combination of a rotatable ore support of cylindrical form having walls projecting beyond the support for confining the ore mass at the sides, the supgas, means port being ervious to air and at the penp ery of the holder for supporting it so it is free to rotate, and means for causing air or combustion-supporting gas to pass through the pervioussuplport and the ore mass thereon, substantia y as set forth.
