The present invent-ion relates to preserving receptacles of the type in which the closure is secured to the body by means of a hardened plastic material which is )laced in sealing position while in a soft or mo ten condition, and ithas for an object to provide a construction in which the sealing substance is arranged so as not to be subject to accidental blows, while at the same time maintaining an effective sealing.
l Another object is to provide for the effective and quiclt' breaking or cutting of the sealing material in order that the closure may be removed. l

With a device constructed in accordance with this invention it ispossible to enploy the saine jars or receptacles again, the closures being adapted for separate manufactttre with the cutting devices attached thereto.
