After exposure envelop 12 is returned to normal position inside of envelop 10, the cover member 2223-swung back and the exposed plate with its protecting envelops withdrawn. The protecting envelops can be made of comparatively thin paper, and the combined plate and its protecting envelops will take up but little more room than the plate alone, so that an operator may carry a very considerable number of plates in their permanent envelops, without inconvenience.

I claim as my invention:

1. As an article of manufacture, an inclosing envelop for an inclosed photographic plate having an open end and a sight opening at the film side of said plate, a second envelop'inelosing the plate within the first envelop and longitudinally movable from the open end of the first envelop and relative to said plate, means for preventing dissociation of the inner envelop from the outer envelop and the plate, and means for holding the plate against accidental withdrawal in the outer envelo 2. As an article of manufacture, a photographic unit comprising an envelop having one open end and a sight opening in one face, means arranged within the said envelop to which a )hotographic plate maybe attached, a second envelop having an open end telescoped into the open end of the first envelop and lon itudinally movable relative thereto and at apted to inease the photogrz i phie plate, and means for preventing excessive withdrawal of the second envelop from the first.

3. As an article of manufacture, a photographic unit comprising an external envelop having one open end and a sight opening in one faee, means arranged within the said envelop to which a photographic plate may be attached, a second envelop having an open end iiiserted into the open end of the outer envelop and longitudinally movable theretllt b ug h and adapted. to inease the photographic plate, and means for preventing exr zessive fwitlulrawal ol the inner envelop from the oufllbr.

5.'As an article of manufacture, a photographic unit comprising an outer envelop having an open end and a sight opening in one face, a plate-holding sheet arranged within said envelop and having one end doubled back to cooperate with a portion of the outer envelop at that end of the sight opening opposite the open end of the envelop and at its other end provided with a laterally extending finger, and an open ended inner envelop sleeved within the outer envelop, the said inner envelop at a corner of its inner open end being closed so as to engage the laterally proje ting linger of the plate-holding sheet to prevent :ureidcntal excessive withdrawal of the inner envelop.

6. The combination, with a plate-holding envelop comprising an inclosing envelop for the inclosed photographic plate having a sight opening at the lilm side of said plate, a second envelop inclosing the plate within the first and longitudinally movable in the first envelop and relative to said plate, and means l'orpreventing dissociationot' the inner envelop from the outer envelop and the plate, of a holder adapted to be associated with a camera, said holder having a sight opening,

and a hook at one end of said sight opening adapted to enter oneend ol the sight opening of the envelop and hold the same and the plate against displacement.

7.
