ANNA HOLZWEISSIG, OF ELBERFELD, GERMANY.
CONFECTIONERY-PAGKING DEVICE.
Specication of Letters Patent.
Patented March 28, 1909.
Application filed August 28, 1908. Serial No. 450,784.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ANNA IIoLzwEIssIG, a subject of the German Emperor, residing at Elberfeld, in Germany, have invented a certain new and useful Confectionery-Packing Device, of which the following is a specication.
This invention relates to a device for4 protecting confectionery more particularly cakes, during transport, the object of the said device being to prevent the article from sliding from its plate and becoming damaged.
In the accompanying drawing, a constructional form of the device according to this inventionis illustrated in Figure 1 in plan, and in Fig. 2 in side elevation, Fig. 3 showing the application of the protecting` device Vto a basket.
As will be seen in Figs. land 2, the device comprises a sheet metal strip a bent into the form of aring, the ends of which are arranged adj'ustably relatively to each other, in order that it may suit plates of different sizes. One end of the ring is accordingly provided with a slot t with which engages a pin c attached to the other end. By screwing up a Wing nut with which the pin is provided the ends of the ring are secured in a position corresponding to the diameter of the plate. In order that the ends of the ring may be satisfactorily guided relatively to each other, the inner end of the ring slides between projections d on the outer end. To the lower edge of the ring are soldered angle pieces c which support the plate (Fig. 2). When it is desired to pack the cake, the plate is placed in the ring, the latter is pulled around its edge and secured in that position. Thus even when the plate takes up anA inclined position, j
the cake can not slide off from the same. On the outside of the ring are secured several, for instance, four, hooks f. INithin the transporting means which may be, for instance, a basket, a bicycle, a carriage or a motor-car, are arranged a corresponding number of chains g secured to the bottom by means of springs h. The hooks of the rings are engaged with the said chains. Between each two plates, a sheet metal cover is hooked into the chains for protecting the cakes.
What I claim as my invention and desire to secure by Letters Patent is 1. The combination of a transporting device, anexpansiblegring,*means attached to said ring whereby a plate ada ted to hold a piece of confectionery may e supported, and means for supporting said ring within said transporting device.
2. The combination of a transporting de-` vice, an adjustable eXpansible sneet metal ring, means attached to said ring whereby a plate adapted to hold a piece of confectionery may be supported, and flexible means for supporting said ring within said transporting device.
3. The combination of a transporting device, a sheet metal ring, means for adjusting said ring to different diameters, angle-pieces attached to said ring whereby a plate adapted to hold a piece of confectionery may be supported, chains within said transporting device, and hooks upon said ring adapted to engage with said chains.
4. The combination of a transporting device, a sheet metal ring, Wingnut boltspassing through slots for adjusting said ring to vdifferent diameters, angle-pieces attached to said ring whereby a plate adapted to hold a piece of confectionery may be supported, chains within said transporting device, springs attaching said chains to the bottoni of said transporting device, and hooks upon said ring adapted to engage with said chains.
5. The combination of a transporting device, an adjustable expansible sheet metal ring, means attached to said ring whereby a plate adapted to hold a piece of confectionery may be supported, flexible means for supporting said ring within said transporting device and alcover attached to said flexible means above said piece of confectionery.
6. The combination of a transporting device, a plurality of sheet metal rings, means for adjusting said rings to different diameters, angle-pieces attached to said rings, whereby a plate holding pieces of confectionery may be supported on each ring, chains within said transporting device, and hooks upon said ringsadapted to engage with said chains tohold said rings in superposed position.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
ANNA IIOLZWEISSIG.
