v Be it known that I, HYDE JOHN DUN a citizenof the United States, residing at Oakland, in the county of Alameda and Stateof California, haveinvented certain new and useful Improvements in Poultice Cases or Containers, of which the following is a specification.

This invention has for its object a simple, and efficient construction of poultice case or container constructed in such a manner as to form a series'of sections capable of sub-divi sion, each section, when detached forming a complete or separate oultice casein itself of the requisite size an each section containing a series of ockets desi ed to maintain an equal distrlbution' of t e poulticing ingredients, so that when filled or immersed'in hot or boilin water, each pocket becomes saturated wit out mixing or spreading, the ingredients keeping uniform through the'construction of the pockets. I

A further object of the invention is an improvedpoultice case or container with an in1' pervious back and a porous front or face,

In the manufacture of my im roved poultice case or container, I use a backing 1 of substantially thin impervious fabric or other material capable of retaining the heat and moisture and of conforming readily to any-part of the body to which the device is to be applied. This backing may be of any desired size and shape, according as judgment or taste may dictate, and it is preferably rectangularand of greater length than breadth, as clearly illustrated in the drawings. to this backin 1, a face portion 2 of some thin porous fa ric or material to form the front of the case, or'container to receive the heat and moisture. These two materials are laid evenly together and a tape 3 is then laid longitudinally on theface portion 2 at preferably the median line thereof and secured to the face portion and backing by two lines of stitching 3 separated some distance from each other, or at the edge of the tape. While .one of these longitudinal ta es 3 is shown, it is obvious that any num er may be em ployed, according to the size of the completed article. Qne or more cross transverse tapes 4 are also secured on the face portion 2 and to the said face portion and the backing 1 by means'of separated lines of stitching 4. In the present instance, two of these transverse tapes are shown, the said longitudinal tape and twotransvers'etapes forming the case into series of distinct sections 5 of equal size, and it is obvious that any one or more of these se'ctions may be separated from the others to form a complete poultice case in itself by cutting along the longitudinal or both longitudinal and transverse tapes. Each of these sections 5 is sub-divided by lines of stitching 6, intd series of pockets 7 intended for the reception of the flax seed or other poultice substances. In the manu facture of the case, the end edges of the backing 1 and face ortion 2 are connected.

From the foregoing description in connection with the accompanying drawings, it will u be seen that I have provided avery simple and efficient construction of oultice case or container which forms one arge complete poultice case capable of subdivision into sections and sizes as necessity demands, ready for use.

It isobvious that in many cases, they may be used by reheating, thereby eflecting a saving of trouble and expense.

By means of the tapes running lengthwise and cross-Wise with double stitching, the sections are strengthened, to form and complete the sections, so that when divided by cutting between the two rows of stitching, the divided section may be left intact by a single row of stitching.
