APPLICATION FILED 1120.8, 1908.

I 1 i i DENTON REINMILLER, OF RAOINE, WISCONSIN.
WINDOW-SASH LOCK.
Application filed December 8, 1908.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented March 9, 1909.
Serial No. 466,517.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, DENTON REINMILLER, a citizen of the United States, residing Racine, in the county of Racine and State of l/Visconsin, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Window-Sash Locks and I do hereby declare the followin to be a full, clear, and exact description or the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
This invention relates to new and useful improvements in devices for locking the sash of windows, and comprises various details of construction, combinations and arrangements of parts which will be hereinafter fully described and then specifically defined in the appended claims.
My invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which:
Figure 1 is a perspective view of an upper and lower sash of window, showing the invention as applied to the upper sash and in a locked position. Fig. 2 is an enlarged detail perspective View of the lock, and Fig. 3 is a sectional view on line 33 of Fig. 2, and Fig. 4 is a sectional view on line 44 of Fig. 2.
Reference now being had to the details of the drawings by letter, A designates a metallic plate which is fastened to the upper sash of the window in any convenient location and has a widened portion at its free end with a vertically disposed aperture D formed therein for the reception of the angled rod F which has notches H formed in the vertical arm thereof. A hole H is formed in the free end of said plate and intersects said opening 1) and is threaded to receive the screw E. Said screw E is provided for the purpose of holding the angled rod F in an adjusted position so that its outwardly extending arm F may be positioned at different heights above the top of the lower sash and serve as a stop to limit the upper throw of the lower sash and the downwarl throw of the upper sash.
When it is desired to allow one sash or the other to move freely independentof the stop mechanism, the screw is released and the angled rod F allowed to turn within the aperture in the plate in which it is mounted and, when the arm F is swun laterally from over the under sash, the latter may be raised or the upper sash lowered freely without interference.
What I claim to be new is 1. A window sash lock, comprising a socket member adapted for attachment to the face of the upper sash of the Window and provided with an aperture, an angled locking member mounted in said aperture, a set screw mounted in a threaded opening in said socket member and adapted to engage and hold the locking member, as set forth.
2. A window sash lock, comprising a me tallic socket member designed for attachment to the face of the upper sash of a window and provided with an aperture therein, a set screw mounted in the threaded opening in the end of said member and intersecting said aperture, an angled locking member having notch therein and adapted to be seated in the aperture in the socket member, said notch designed to receive the set screw and hold the locking member from rotation, as set forth.
In testimony whereof I hereunto affix my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
DENTON REINMILLER.-
Witnesses:
