Definitions
- An anti creeping device for railway rails formed of resilient, wrought inetal and comprising a clamp having integral shoulders with a seat between said shoulders narrower than the rail base and a resilient, expansible portion in the part of the device con necting said shoulders, whereby the rail base can be mechanically forced to its seat between said shoulders and be securely gripped thereby.
- a railway tie-plate of wrought metal having shoulders for gripping the vopposite edges 0l the rail base and an elastic portion connecting said shoulders that is expansible by the distortion of the metal.

construction being such that the distance between the shoulders is expanded to permit the seating of t-he rail.
Having thus des ribed my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Let ters Patent, isw- 1. An anti-creeping device for railway rails havingshoulders for gripping the opposite edgesof the rail base and an lelastic connecting portion between said shoulders that is expansible by distortion.
2. An anti creeping device for railway rails formed of resilient, wrought inetal and comprising a clamp having integral shoulders with a seat between said shoulders narrower than the rail base and a resilient, expansible portion in the part of the device con necting said shoulders, whereby the rail base can be mechanically forced to its seat between said shoulders and be securely gripped thereby.
3. A railway tie-plate of wrought metal having shoulders for gripping the vopposite edges 0l the rail base and an elastic portion connecting said shoulders that is expansible by the distortion of the metal.
4. A railway tie-plate having integral shoulders arranged to bear against the edges oi the rail base with a seating space between said shoulders slightly Inn'rowcr than the rail base and a resilient, expansible portion in the part of the plate connecting said shoulders, whereby the rail base is securely gripped when forced between said shoulders.
5. A one-piece railway tie-plate'lorined of resilient nietaland adapted to be interposed between the rail and the tie and to be secured to the tie, said plate having integral shoulders for gripping the opposite edges of the rail base with a seat between said shoulders narrower than the rail base, the part off the plate interinediate said shoulders being niechanically expansible by'the distortion of the metal to permit the forcible seating of the rail-base between said shoulders.
6. A railway tie plate having shoulders with a seating s ace between said shoulders narrower' than t ie rail piece and a resilient, expansible portion connecting said shoulders, whereby the rail base is securely gripped when forced between said shoulders, the in ner ia'ces of said shoulders being provided with gripping teeth.
7. A railway tie-plate having shoulders for engaging the opposite edges ol the rail base,
a part of the plate between saidvshoulders being-divided by cuts or opeiiiings into a nu1nber of strips inclined at an angle to said. shoulder, whereby the distance between said shoulders may be increased by a bending or distortion of said strips.
8. An anti ci eeping device lor railway rails formed of wrought metal, having shoulders with a seating space between said shoulders narrower than the rail-base and a resli-- ent, yielding portion between said shoulders .that is (Xpansible by the distortion oi' the metal, whereby the rail-base may be lorrrd to its seat between said shoulders and orsrcurely gripped thereby.
