. troduced to the case and thereafter successively projected from within the casing to permit their ready removal therefrom; and to this end the invention consists in the novel construction and combinations of parts hereinafter fully described and claimed.
ln the drawings F igure 1 is a perspective view of my improved ticket case. Fig. 2 is a front elevation thereof. Fig. 3 is a side elevation thereof. Fig. 4 is a vertical section, as on the line 4 4 of Fig. 3. Fig. 5 is a vertical section as on the line 5 5 of Fig. 2. Fig. 6 is a view similar to Fig. 5 showing the position of the parts when a ticket is projected from the case. F ig. 7 is a transverse section, as on the line 7 7 of Fig. 5.
1 designates the outer casing, the top of which is open. Slidingly fitted Within the outer casing 1 and movable toward and from the bottom thereof, is a ticket-receiving box 2, which extends through and beyond the open end or top of the case 1. The box 2 is of suitable shape and size to receive a pack of tickets of the size for which the case is intended.
One side of the box 2 is open to permit the introduction of a pack of tickets thereto, as will be hereinafter explained. Within the box 2 is a ticket-engaging plate 3, which is pressed toward the open side of the box 2 by the action of springs 6 interposed between the plate 3 and the side Wall 8 of thebox 2.
The outer end 10 of the box 2 is provided with projections 9 between which and said end 10 is formed a ticket-ejecting opening 11 of a width substantially equal to the thickness of one ticket of the pack of tickets 12 contained within the box 2. The projections 9 and the side 13 of the outer casing 1 are in line with each other, and form-walls between which and the plate 3 the pack of tickets 12 is contained, said tickets being Specification of Letters Patent.

pressed yieldingly against the side 13 and projections 9 by the action of the springs 6, and the outermost ticket of the pack being in line with the ticket-ejecting opening 11.
The ticket receiving box 2 is pressed normally outwardly through the open end of the outer casing 1 to the position shown in Figs. 1 to 5 inclusive, by the action of suitable springs 14 interposed between the bottom of the box 2 and the bottom of the case 1, and having their lower ends secured to the bottom of the case 1. The further outward movement of the box 2 is prevented, under ordinary handling conditions, by the friction between the outer case l and the ticket box 2,and the pressure of the tickets contained therein against the side 13. The bottom of the plate 3 is provided with a projection 18 which extends through a slot 19 in the bot tom of the box 2 for a purpose hereinafter explained. Secured to the inside of the case 1 and arranged against the side 13 thereof, is a projection or plate l5 of a width substantially equal to the thickness of one of the tickets of the pack 12, and arranged in line with the ticket ejecting-opening 11 and the outermost ticket of the pack 12. The bottom 16 of the box 2 is provided with an opening 17 through which the projection 15 may pass when the box 2 moves toward and from the bottom of the casing 1. Thus it will be seen that the box 2 may be pressed toward the bottom of the case 1 against the action of the springs 14, and that the box will be returned to the position shown by the action of the springs 14 when the pressure against the box is removed.
The operation is as follows When a pack of tickets is contained within the ticket box 2, as shown in the drawings, the device affords a suitable means for carrying and protecting the tickets. When it is desired to remove a ticket from the device, the ticket box 2 is pressed downwardly by hand against the action of the springs 14, say to the position shown in Fig. 6. During the downward movement of the box 2, the projection or plate 15 will engage the bottom of the outermost ticket and force it outwardly through the opening 11, while the other tickets will be prevented from moving by the top 10 of the box 2. When the outermost ticket is proj ected to the position shown in Fig. 6, it may be readily removed from the device by hand. After the outermost ticket has been thus removed, and the ticket box 2 has been returned from the position shown inFig. 6 to the position shown in the other figures of the drawings, the plate 3 will press the pack of tickets 12 against the projections 9 and side 13 of the case 1, and bring the next succeeding ticket into the position previously occupied by the ticket just removed; whereupon, said next succeeding ticket may be removed in a similar manner, and so on, until the tickets of the entire pack have been successively removed from the device. When it is desired to introduce another pack of tickets to the device, the ticket box 2 is withdrawn from the outer case 1, the plate 3 is depressed against the action of the springs 6, and one end of the pack of tickets is inserted between the plate 3 and the projections 9. This being done, the other end of the pack of tickets is pressed into the box 2 against the action of the plate 3 and springs 6, until the outer face of the outermost ticket is flush with the inner faces of the projections 9 whereupon the box 2 is again inserted into the outer casing 1 wherein the inner face of the side 13 of the casing retains the outermost ticket in line with the ticket-ejecting openingll. When there are no tickets contained within the box 2 and the box 2 has been removed from the outer casing 1, the plate 3 is prevented from leaving the box by the projections 9 engaging one end of the plate 3 and the projection 18 on the other end of the plate 3 engaging the Wall of the slot 19.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure byLetters Patentz- 1. In a ticket case, the combination of an outer casing having an open end, a ticket box within said casing and extending through and beyond said open end, one side of said box being open, a ticket-engaging plate within said box, a spring pressing said plate toward the open side of the box, a wall of the casing closing the inner portion of the open side of the box and forming an abutment against which tickets within the box may be pressed by said plate, the outer end o'l' said box being provided with a ticketeejecting opening in line with a ticket pressed against said wall, and means operated by the 'inward movement of said box for projecting a ticket through said opening.
2. In a ticket case, the combination of an outer casing having an open end, a ticket box within said casing and extending through and beyond said open end, one side of said box being open, a ticket-"engaging plate within said box, a spring pressing said plate toward the open side of the box, a wall of the casing closing the inner portion of the open side of the box and forming an abutment against which tickets within the box may be pressed by said plate, the outer end of said box being provided with a ticket-ejecting opening in line with a ticket pressed against said wall, and a ticket-ejecting plate within the casing inwardly of said box and in line with the ticket-ejecting opening.
3. In a ticket case, the combination of an outer casing having an open end, a ticket box within said casing and extending through and beyond said open end, one side of said box being open, a ticket-engaging plate within said box, a spring pressing said plate toward the open side of the box, a wall of the casing closing the inner portion of the open side of the box and forming an abutment against which tickets within the box may be pressed by said plate, the outer portion of said box being provided with profi jections between which and the outer end of the box is formed a ticket-ejecting opening in line with a ticket pressed'against said wall and said projections, and means operated by the inward movement of said box for projecting a ticket through said opening.
4. In a ticket case, the combination of an outer casing having an open end, a ticket box within said casing and extending through and beyond said open end, one side oi' said box being open, a ticket-engaging plate within said box, a spring pressing said plate toward the open side of the box, a wall of the casing closing the inner portion of' the open side oi the box and forming an abutment against which tickets within the box may be pressed by said plate, the outer end of said box being provided with a ticketej ecting opening in line with a ticket pressed against said wall, means operated by the inward movement of said box for projecting a ticket through said opening, and means limiting the movement oi said plate toward the open side oi the box when the box is withdrawn from the casing.
In testimony whereof, l have hereunto affixed my signature.
