STOVE.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, ANNA MoNULTY, a citizen of the United States, residing at Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Stoves, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to gas stoves and more particularly to tops for the same, the object being to provide the top of the stove with a ring for holding the lid or cooking vessel centered over the flames, thereby over coming the difficulties now existing of keeping the lid or pot over the flames.

Another object of my invention is to pro" vide the arms with a web so that the eyes will be protected from the flames.

With these and other objects in view, the invention consists in the novel features of construction, combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter fully described and pointed out in the claim.

In the drawings forming a part of this specification :Figure 1 is a perspective view of my irn roved stove with the burner removed. i 2 is a transverse sectional view through the stove. Fig. 3 is a detail soctional view of the lid. Fig. l is a top plan view of my improved stove. Fig. 5 is a section taken on lines 55 of Fig.

In these drawings A indicates a rectangle lar frame having flanged sides A provided with de ending portions at their corners forming feet A forming the end of the stove. The inner upper edge of the frame is rabheted forming a shoulder on which rests a rectangular frame A having inwardly projecting -radial arms A on which is secured adjacent their ends a ring B in which the metal lid 0 is adapted to fit provided with a stove-lid lifter receiving sockets C so that it can be readily removed when desired.

It will be readily seen that by providing the top of the stove with a ring for centering the lid over the flames, that I overcome the difficulties now existing with the stoves of this character of centering the cooking vessel over the flames when placing a vessel on a stove.

It will also be readily seen that when the lid is removed that the stove will be provided with a ring that will hold the cooking vessel over the flames and prevent the same from slipping and sliding from over the flames when the top of the stove becomes greasy.

From the foregoing description it will be readily seen that l have provided detachable, stove top with very novel means for holding a lid or vessel centrally over the flames.

Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is

A gas stove consisting of an elevated, rectangular frame, a second frame fitting within the first mentioned frame, inwardly extending arms carried b y the second frame, said arms stopping short of the center of the frame, a ring supported upon said arms adjacent their inner ends, a lid resting upon said arms and resting within the ring, and webs connecting a portion of said arms and a pipe extending through the first mentioned frame carrying a circular burner arranged under the ring.
