PBINTERS FORM- 'IRUC-K.
Specification uf Letters Patent.
Patented. Feb. 16, 1909.
Application filed April 13, 1908'. Serial a... 426,825.
To, all whom it my concern:
printers use, that is to trucks for carryingv forms from the table to the press and from the press to the table.
The object of my invention, is to provide a form truck which may be readily adjusted and brought into alinement with the top of the: table or the bed of the press to transfer the form to or from the truck as desired. v
furtherobject of my invention is to provides form truck which may be folded to occupy but little space when not in service. Other objects will appear hereinafter. With; these objects in 'v'iew my invention consists generally in a substantially flat frame port-ion. arranged in a vertical plane, a table top trunnioned on said frame and adapted to swing down against one side thereof when not in use, an, arm extending from the opposite "side of the frame at the upper part thereof to support the table top when in horizontal position.
Hereinafter, the-side of the frame from which the supporting arm extends will be called the front and the ode of the table which swings upwardly to'folded position, the front edge.
My invention further consists in a form truck comprising a vertically disposed frame mounted upon rollers, or casters, a swinging table trnnnioned on said frame and means for adjusting the table vertically.
My invention further consists in truck as mentioned, equipped with means for either or both ends'of the table separately or simultaneously.
My'inven-uion further consists in a form truck comprising a frame mounted upon casters, a table adjustably mounted on said frame and an overhanging ledge on the front edge of the table to rest upon the edge of the imposing table while transferring the My invention further.consists in various details of construction and arrangements of parts all as will/be hereinafter fully described and particularly pointed out in the claims.
My invention will be more readily undera form stood by reference to the accompanying drawings forming a part of this-specification, and in which,
Figure 1v is a side elevation of form truck embodying my invention in its re ferred form, Fig. 2 isan end elevation i natrating the table top in both horizontal and folded positions, Fig. 3 is a central, vertical, longitudinal section of the truck, and Fig. 4 is a plan View of the frame portion withthe table top removed.
The frame of the device comprises a pair of upright end members 1-1 rigidly connected by a longitudinal frame 2, formin a substantially fiat but vertically disposed frame. Thelower ends of the members 1 are forked forming the legs 3 which give the device. a spread footing and great stability.'
4; indicates casters arranged upon the ends ofthlgsg; V.
The upperends of the: members 1 are formed with the splitsleeves 5 having the flanges 6 through which a clamping screw 7 arranged. .-Slidably mounted through each of the sleeves 5 is a vertically disposed rack bar 8 each provided with a head 9' u on which the tablQ'Of the truck is swingingy mounted or trunnioned.
1Q indicates the table top. This is provided with a pair of trunnions 11 which rest in grooves or bearin gs 12 formed for them in the top of the headsfi. The trunnions are formed upon the ends of a longitudinal bar or member 13 secured to the underface of the table. The trunnions are arran ed beneath the table and at a sufficient distance below the underface thereof to have the table clear the heads 9 when it swings to folded position shown in dotted lines in Fig. 2. Extending from one side of each of the members 1 is an arm 14: which forms a stop for the table top when it swings to folded positionf Extending horizontally from the front of the heads 9 are a paircof arms 15. These are upon the opposite side of the frame from the arms 14: and form a support for the table when in horizontal position and ready to receive the form.
Secured to the front edge 16 of the table is a plate 17. This is arranged with its upper face flush with the table to and projects beyond the edge of the table orming a led e Formed upon each of the members 1 below the sleeves 5 is ahorizontally disposed sleeve 18 in which isrotatably mounted a short shaft 19 having a gear 20 meshing with the rack 8. The shafts 19, are each provided witha hand wheel 21 having a handle 22 for turning the same. It is obvious that by turning the wheel 21, the table top may be raised or lowered, also, as the wheels .may
" Patent, is:
be operated simultaneously 'or separately either of the ends of the table top may be raised or'lowered independently 'ofthe other or together. After the table. top is properly adjusted, the clam ing screws 7 are tightened,
bindingthe rack ars and holding the'table top in adjusted position.
Having descrlbed my invention what I claim as new anddesire to secure by Letters 1. A printers form truck comprising a substantially fiat frame portion arranged in a vertioalplane-and mounted u on rollers, a table top trunnioned on sai frame and adapted to swing down against one sideframe and means for adjusting the table vertically, substantially as described.
' 3. A printers form truck comprising a frame in combination with a table top trunnioned on said frame and means for raising or lowering the ends of said table simultaneouslyor independently of each other, substantially as described.
4:. A form truck comprising a frame mounted upon casters, a table ad justably mounted on sald frame and an overhanging ledge on the front edge of said table, substantially as described.
5. A form truck comprising a frame in frame, a tabletop trunnioned to the upper ends of said rack bars and means for raising or lowering said rack bars, described.
7. A form truck comprising a frame mounted upon casters in combination with a pair. of rack bars slidably mounted in said frame, a table top trunnionedto the upper ends of said rack bars, means for raising or lowering said rack bar and an arm extending horizontally from one side of the upper end of each of said rack bars to support the table top in horizontal position, substantially as described. v
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
