G. W. HUTTMAN'.
l CAKE MIKEL APPLICATION FILED JAN.15, 1907.`
Patented Feb. 9, 1909.v
IN VE N TOI? UNITED sTATEs PATENT oEEroE.
CHARLES W. yHOTTMAN, OF PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA, ASSIIGNOR TO HARRY READ,
-OF PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA.
vCAXE-MIXER.
Specification of Letters Patent.-
Patented Feb. 9, 1909.
Application filed January 15, 1907. Serial No. 352,371.
To all 'whom it may con-ccm:
Be it known that I, CHARLES W. HOTT- MAN, a'subject of the Emperor of Germany having declared his intentions of becomingl a citizen of the United States, residing at Phila.- delphia, in the county of Philadelphia and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Im rovements in Cake- Mixers, of vwhich the fol owing is a specification.
My invention relates to improvements in cake mixers the object being -to provide means whereby the entire mass of material contained within the receptacleor an may be more intimately mixed toget ier and -whereby'the center of the batch may be sub:
Jeeted to the-same treatment as the outside.
3 shows a vertical section taken on a line 3 3 of I'ig. 1, and Figl is an end elevation looking from the left hand side of Fig. 2.
Referring 'to the reference letters of the drawings, A, denotes the receptacle or pan to contain the ingredients to be mixed.
B, is the addle comprising a paddle shaft, B1 and bla es b1. o
C, is the frame .of the machine having bearings aand c1 to support the driving shaft D, and a socket c2 containing a fixed shaft D1. The lower )art of the frame C, is fastened to a ring E, which is angular in cross section and embraces the top of the `receptacle A, while braces c3 and c4, reaching from the bear'- ing c, to the rin r E, firmly hold the frame C, in position. T e ring E, through the Inedium of the frame and braces just referred to supports all of the drivingmechanism, `'and is detachably secured to the receptacle A, by latches e and-e1.
The driving shaft D, is rovided at one end with an operating-crank and at the oppo-v site end with a bevelv gear wheel G, the latter meshing with a corresponding gear G1, which is secured'to a bracket H, adapted to turn upon the fixed shaft D1. The fixed shaftD1, is furnished at the lower end with a collar d, to holdthe bracket H, in place and has also a pinion I, fastened to this shaft. The' pinion I, meshes with a gear wheel J, firmly secured, to the' paddle shaft B1, which shaft is free to turn in upper and lowerbearings in the Vbracket H. .ci
Having described my invention what' I claim 'and desirel to secure by Letters Patf ent is:
. l. A cake mixer, comprisinga receptacle," a detachable frame surmountmg the same, a
fixed vertical shaft depending from the frame, a movable `bracket j ournaled on said shaft, a
paddle journaled in and depending fromsaid'.
racket and having an axis of rotation re mote from that of the bracket and means caused to rotate.
whereby the bracket carrying said paddle is 2. A cake'mixer, comprising a receptacle,
a frame detachably secured-thereto, a fixedvertical shaft journaled in and depending from the frame, a rotatable bracket JQllI'fnaled upon said shaft, a paddle journaledin said bracket, a pinion secured to Ithe fixed vertical shaft anda gearsecured to the paddle and in mesh with said pinion.
A cake mixer, comprising a rece tacl'e, a frame mounted above and detacha ly se' cured to the receptacle, a horizontal shaftjournaled in said frame, a fixed vertical shaft depending from the frame, a movable f bracket H, Iiournaled u o n the fixed shaft,
bevel gears interposed etween the driving` shaft and bracket,l whereby Vthe latter is caused to revolve, a paddle having ashaft journaled in said bracket, a pinion securedto the fixed shaft and agear wheel fastened to. f
the shaft of the paddle and meshing with said pinion.v
in presenceoftwo witnesses.
CHARLES-W. HOTTMAN. Witnesses'.
ARNOLD KATz, DAVID S. WILLIAMS.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature.
