Beit known that we, J osnriius C. PIANI@ and THOMAS ELFULGHUM, citizens-of the United States, residing "at Grand-Junction,
in the county of Mesa andi State-ef Gblorado have invented a new and useful Heater, of which the following is a specication. A
This invention `relates to heaters for use rin orchards .for the-.purpose of preventing 1n]ury such'as oftenres'ultsfrom the earlyv frosts. y Y
The object of the invention is to provide (ai .an l
similar combustible materials as a fuel, the
parts ofthe heater beinglso assembled as to` reduce to the minimum .e amount of smoke produedfas a result of the combustion.l
Another object is to -provide'a lheater of this character the arts of which can be readily 'disconnecte Aand compactly 'stored so as to be transported at comparatively slight cost.
Another object is 'to provide a heater which is cheap to manufacture vand lwhich can be quickly set up or taken apart.
With these vand other objects in view the invention consistsl of certain novel features ofconstruction and combinations of parts' which will be hereinafter more fully described and pointed outin the claims'.

Referring to the figures by characters of 'Y reference, 1 designates a receptacle preferably tapered t'tward the bottom thereof Aand l formed" of anysuitable sheet metal. It is designed Ato use 'a large number of these heaters'at the same time, positioned'at desired distances apart so that when, fuel is heated to prevent the trees within the orchard from being injured by sudden early frosts. .Itis designed to use heavy oils as a fuel and after the'receptacle 1 has been by means of the ears 3 and the tube 5 is then inserted into the ringso'asto assume the position shown in Fig. 1.- The fuel 1s then ignited within the tube and air entering the openings 6 will commingle with the smoke that the same will be burned.. As the fuel portlon ofthe tube from the receptacle 1, `this -end of the tube. It will be apparent. there- .fore that` after the device has once been charged with oil it will bepossible to maintain -combustion 4for some time. lBy manipulating the cover 7 the combustion of the oil may be readily controlled.
