lowing to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as 'Wl'll enable. others skilled in the art to which it appcrtains to make and use the same. This invention relates to bu'cklesnd clasp stteching. meuns'and has for its object to provide means "whereby a buckle or clasp may be' readily attached in detachable position to replace the old one, if broken. or otherwise rendered unfit for service. A further object of the invention is to provide attaching means whereby the buckle or clasp may bentteched to the harness after the some is otherwise complete.
With thes cand other objects in View, the invention consists of certain novel features of construction, combination and arrange a5 ment of parts, as will he more fully described and particularly pointed out in. the appended claims.
Figure Lisaiiew of my improved attaching means as 'applied to a clasp; Fi 2 is a side elevation thereof; Fig. 3 is a vertical section on line 3-3 of 2; lis a detail perspective view of the coupling pin;
Fig. 5 is a plan View showing tlie zipplicstion of my improved ettschingnieansto e buckle Fig. 6 is a side elevation thereof; Fig. 7 ES 21 verticc section ue -'2'- of Fig. "3. In the embodiment ii IQQQ the numeral 1 indicates clasp of oidin y construction provided with an npproxiznetely Ll-shaped 40 body'2,' of spring metal. The improved attaching means consists of n couplingpin 3, having l 41-, adapted to be en gngcd by r or other tool, and i at opposite on 4.5 log lug clasp h apertures and ulini rec S Li 7 1i transversely slitting body or the pin r the of t ereof. ,Jne in its outer directly op iosite its recess 8, the coupling nin.
. laterally projectoortion or" said last mentioned arm is bentslightly outward, as clearly shown in the drawing, so that after the lug ot' the couping pinhes been inserted through the recess B ot said arm, the socketed portion thereof is pressed slightly inward by the lug riding so inthe annular recess 95 during the operation of turning the coupling pin a half revolution by u screw-driver or other suitable'tool, to bring said lug in position to enter'its socket 10, after which the socketed portion or" said arm is permitted to spring outward into its normal position. and holds the lug of the coupling pin in position in said socket.
A roller 11 is revoluhly mounted upon the pin, said roller having a central bore 12, to receive the body of the pin, and. c'longitudinel recess 13, in the Wall of its bore to receive the lug of the coupling pin, during the operation or mounting the roller in position.
i Vhen my improved attaching means is applied to n buckle instead of a, clasp the side pieces ll of the former are also apertured' and recessed simi ar to the manner shown in connection with the clasp and the tongue 15 of the buckle provided with a recess 16, the 'purpose of which Will be understood. The apertured portion of one of the side pi ces of the buckle is also bent out- 7 Word, as at 17, to hold the lug of the coupling pin in @osition in its socket, as heretofore explained, and the npertured portion of the other side piece is provided Wl'th an annulnr socket 18, to receive the head of the coupling" From the foregoing it will he observed that by employing my improved attaching means, the buckle or clasp may be readily placed in position should the old one break or otherwise be rendered unfit for service or 9 instead oi? sewing and riveting the buckles or sleeps JOSitlOil when used in connection with her: they may be readily applied in rletuchnole pcsitionsfter the harness is 'eadi v understood Without tended explanation.
in the some proportion end the minor of construction may be resorted to without departing from the iniisving spaced resilient side pieces formed.-
With central transversely siineci apertures, aiming recesses in the Walls oi said spertur and one of said side pieces with a socket in its outer face directly cppesite its rec ss, a coupiing pin having a lateral lug est for reception by said recesses and to in said socket, and. a roller revoiubly seer, mounted upon. the coupling pin, the former hsvnig a longitudinal recess in its bore to re the lug of'the latter.
T i combination with a fastening device spaced resilient side pieces formed.
with central transverse alined apertures, slitting recesses in the walls bf said apertures and one of said apertures with a socket in its outer face, a coupling pin having laterally projecting lugs adapted for reception by the transverse recesses of said side pieces and to seat in said socket when in'inserted position, the socketed side piece being bent outwardly at its apertured portion, and a roller revolubly mounted upon said pin and having longitudinal recesses in its bore to receive the tug thereof.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand in presenceof two subscribing Witncsses.
