Be it known that I, RALPH W. BonoHnRfr,
` a Citizen of the United states, residing at a revoluble ring encircling the switch orar- St. Louis, Missouri, have invented a new and useful Switch, of which the following is a specification. f A
This invention relates to switch mechan isms for incandescent elect-ric lights; and it consists of the novel construction, combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter shown, described and claimed.
The object of the invention is to produce' an efficient switch mechanism for use in connection with electric lighting means, -in
vwhich the switch mechanism is actuated lby y ranged in such relation thereto that, when `turned a proper distance, it `will cause the switch lterminals to'contact thereby completing the lighting current; and when turned .further it will permit the spring portion of -the terminals to snap out of contact with the stationary portion, thereby breaking or opening the circuit. The ring is revoluble in either direction to accomplish the switch# ing operations.

spring terminal attached to said support, a stationary terminal, a ring encircling said terminals and having a series of recesses therein, and an element detached from' said ring between said -ring and said spring terminal whereby the latter will be actuated when said ring is revolved in either direction, substantially as specified.
5I The combination with an electric light lamp socket, and a terminal spring attached to a stationary support, of a ring encircling and revoluble entirely aroundl said socket and constituting a hand-hold arranged to aetuate said terminal spring when revolved in either direction, substantially as specified.

A switch for electric, light lamps comprising a socket, a terminal in said socket to be in permanent contact with the contact. point of the lamp, a terminal operable to contact with the socket to complete the circuit with the lamp filament, and a ring encircling and revoluble in either direction entirely around said socket and arranged to actuate said last-named terminal as required go' omplete the circuit, substantially as specii 7. The combination with the switch hav ing a spring terminal, of a ring separate from said terminal encircling the switch and operableequal distances in either direction to make contact of the terminal to complete the circuit, substantially as specified.
8. The combination with the switch having a spring terminal, and a non-conductin element l,connected with said spring termina of a revluble ring separate from said spring terminalencircling the switch and operable in either direction a ainst said non-conducting element effective y to actuate the spring terminal to complete thel circuit, substantially as specified.
9. The combination with the lamp socke and the switch having a spring terminal, of a rin detached from the spring terminal leneirc ing andrevoluble entirely aroundl the socket in either direction, and means whereby the ring when revolved a given distance in either direction will operate said springA terminal, Asubstantially as specified.
10. The combination withV the lamp socket and the spring terminal, of a ring encircling j the socket and revoluble in either direction, and means whereby the ring when revolved a given distance in either direction will opervate said spring terminal, substantially `as specified. p
