VALVE To all 'whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, OLAF E. OLEsoN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Chicago, inthe county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented a certain new and useful Improvement in Valves, of which the following 1s a full, clear, coneiseeanfl exact description, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, "forming a part of i0 this specification.

My invention, of course, can be readily applied'to other forms of valves Afrom that herein shown without departing from the spirit or scope ofthe invention, the main feature being the relative dimensions o the various 'flanges and openings'whereby wire drawing is primarily in the greater part y prevented but just sufficient wire' drawing effect retained to cause the Avalve seat and surface to be automatically cleaned before the valve is closed.,` A valve of this oonstruction is of particular utility where it is usedas a blow-oli' valve, the bloweotf steam usually carrying a great quantity of grit and injurious foreign substances which would soon destroy the valveseat and other surfaces. As the flange 29, however, in my valve is comparatively long and does not finally open a passageway' through the valve until the outer flange of the valve has left the seat, there can be no concentration of pressure or iiow over the valve seat and consequently no injurious wire drawing effect.
