IMPROVED NEEDLE-SHARPENER.
The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the lame.
To all whom 'i1/may concern:
Be it known tht I, A. S.D1NsMORE, ofN ew York, in the county of N ew York, and State of New York', have invented a new and improved N cradle-Sharpener; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, die-ar, and exact description thereof, which will enable others skilled in the art to make and use the same, relerence being had to the accompanying drawings, forming,r part of' this specification, in which- Figure l is :1. perspective view of my improved needle-Sharpener.

My invention has for its object to furnish animproved ncedle-sharpener, designed especially' for sharpening se\ ving-machine needles whose points have been broken ol'i; lmid V It consists in the construction of the same, :is will be hereinafter more fully described.
A and B are two blocks or plates, melde oi steel or other suitable material.
The adjacent edges ofthe upper 'parts ofthe blocks or plates A B are bevelled dii', and the said bevels are grooved or roughened, or have file-teeth formed upon them, as shown in iig. l.
One oi' the blocks or pla-tes A B is formed with a projecting,l shoulder, a, which overlaps the bevel ofthe other part, as shown in figs. 1 and 2.
The two blocks or plates A B nre secured to each other, when adjusted, by a set-screw, rs shown in figs. l and 2.
In using:r the instrument, the needle to be sharpened is held at a greater or less inclination, according as' the taper of the point of the needle is desired to be more or less grzidnal.
AThe needle. is then drawn through the angle of the Sharpener, and at' the same time turned so that its point may be tapered evenly upon all its sides; the shoulder of the one part preventing the point of the needle from entering the joint between the said blocks or plates, so that the extreme point of the needle may be properly sharpened.
Having thus described my invention,
I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent- The needle-sharpeher, constructed as described, of the vplates A B, secured together by screws, and having their upper proximate edges bevelled and roughened, one of said plates being formed with the shoulder u, tting over the bevel upon the opposite plate, as herein .described for the purpose specified.
