Specification of Letters Patent.

To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, Rosn C. KERON, a citizen of the United States, residing at Phila delphia, county of Philadelphia, and State of Pennsylvania, have invented a certain new and useful Improvement in Sad-Iron Covers, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to a new and useful improvement in sad iron covers, and has for its object to provide an exceedingly simple and effective device of this means whereby the heat from a burner of a gas stove may be so retained as to more thoroughly heat the iron.
Vith these ends in view, this invention consists in the details of construction and combination of elements hereinafter set forth and then specifically designated by the claims.
In order that those skilled in the art to which this invention appertains may understand how to make and use the same, I will describe its construction in detail, referring by letter to the accompanying drawing forming a part of this specification, in which Figure 1 is an isometrical view of my improved iron cover. Fig. 2, a rear end view thereof. Fig. 3, is a top plan view showing a gas stove grating to which the said iron cover is attached.
In carrying out my invention as here embodied, A represents the sides of my improvement, being made from one piece of metal so bent as to conform to the general outline of an iron, and having its lower edge turned up, as indicated at B, so as to hold the wire C in place. The ends of said wire are so bent as to form the hooks C and C and at the front of the cover it is so bent as to form a loop D. These hooks and loop serving to hold the cover in place upon the gas stove. The top E has a slot F therein for the reception of the iron handle when an iron is being placed within said cover.
In practice, my improved iron cover is placed over a burner upon a gas stove and held in place by the hooks and loop provided for that purpose. Fig. 3, shows the cover in place wherein A indicates a form of grat- 1 ing common to gas burners which has radiating arms B engaged by loop D, and hooks C, and C Inasmuch as the wire of which D, C, and C are formed is flexible or bendable, these parts may be bent to engage the arms of the grating as is obvious. By the use of wire the same may be bent to engage any type of grating. Since the loop D and hooks C, and C engage about arms B a positive, interlocking engagement is had.
\Vhen an iron is to be heated, it is placed within the cover through the opening in the rear end, the handle going into the opening F, where said handle may be removed from the iron. \Vhen using my improvement, the heat is retained within the cover, and in time most of it is taken up by the iron, so that the heat which has heretofore been wasted is now used. hen the cover is not needed it may be removed from the stove and hung up by means of the loop D.
Of course I do not wish to be limited to the exact details of construction here shown, as these may be varied within reasonable limits without departing from the spirit of my invention.
Having thus fully described by invention, what I claim as new and useful, is-
1. A sad iron cover composed of sides, a
wire member extending along the side bottoms, said wire at the front of the holder being looped and extending outwardly therefrom, the ends of the wire projecting beyond the rear ends of the sides and being formed into hook-shape, said hook-shaped ends and said loop being for engagement with the grating of a gas stove top. l 2. A sad iron cover composed of sides and a top, and securing members at the front of said sides and at the rear thereof for interlocking engagement with the grating of a gas stove top to retain said cover in rigid position.
