1 meda and State of California, have invented certain new and. useful Improvements in Fire roof Attachments for Vaults, of which the Tollowing is a specification.
The present invention relates to an improved iireproof attachment for use in connection with safe deposit vaults, and structures of a similar character, the object of the invention being mainly to protect the entrance door to the vault, and more especially the com lex and expensive burglar-proof lock meclianism carried thereby from injury in case of fire.
To comprehend the. invention 4reference should be had to the accompanying sheet of drawings, wherein is illustrated a broken horizontal sectional view of an ordinary safe deposit vault with the improved ireprool attachment ap lied to the face thereof for the rotecting o the door of the Vault and its ook mechanism against the action of iire.

The concrete wall or body 6, and likewise the concrete' wall or bed 10` of the outer door 7, We reinforce and strengthen by means of the rods 15, which are disposed horizontally and vertically through the body of concrete, being inserted during the forming of the concrete walls.- However, it is obvious thatl any suitable form of reinforcing material for the concrete may be utilized in place of the reinforcing rods or bands 15.
The inner vault door 2 swings onthe 'crane hinge 16, while the outer vestibule door 7 swings on the crane hinge 17, which said hinges are of the usual construction.
The metallic door and jainb frames generally employed in connection with door constructions are omitted, the steps 1S ol the door 7, and the steps 19 ofA the door frame I clips 20, withwhich clips register the anchor clips 21, embedded in the concrete wall or bed 10, when the door 7 is closed. It will be observed that the vestibule 5,
when the door 7 is closed, forms an air chamber for the inner door 2,' Which protects the said door and its burglarroof lock mechanism from the disastrous -e ectof heat, Where the vault is exposed to the action of iire.

The described fireproof attachment is simple of construction, inexpensive as to manufacture, and insures perfect protection to the -by Letters Patent is- 1. A iireproof attachment for the door of a deposit vault and in combination with the vault, a metallic vestibule frame secured to the face of the vault to encompass the door thereof, of a' concrete wall embracing the vestibule frame, and a door for closing the entrance-Way to the vestibule, the same comprising face plates separated b a concrete Wall of approximately the thic ness of the vestibule Wall. 1
